Anybody On Here Play the Saxophone

[jack walsh13]

Just picked up a Selmar Paris 94 Supreme Tenor Saxophone. Want to learn how toplay and create my own unique sound. This thing is beautiful!!!!

Was hard to make a sound at first but I got it after about 10 minutes or so. Putting a Saxophone togehter is a lot more than I realized, but I got it very quickly.

Nice my man. Played the Alto sax in Jr. High. Told my wife when I retire I'm going to learn to play the sax and piano again.

Saxophone gonna be playing after James Embiid and Brown all get hurt by mid season.

Very possible too. Especially with Embiid's brittle ass.

My son plays Alto. He is a beast with it. I got him the Cannonball Adderaly book and a CD set of Cannonball Adderaly and Sergio Mendes.

Just practice and learn your 12 scales. Scales are the foundation of music.

I played trumpet from 4th grade to college. I will pick it back up one day. It’s a great discipline to have.

Thanks. In about two years I will also get a tenor saxophone as well. I love practicing on it already

When I started playing sax in 4th grade....it was on Alto.
I was forced to switch to tenor in 10th grade since we had a shortage of tenor players in the marching band.
I didn't purchase a soprano til about 15 years ago tho.
I love the sounds of all of them except the baritone sax.

Nice tenor sax, Bro.

Start off with a No 2 or so reed (one that's not too hard). Listen to the greats: John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Colman Hawkins, and Ben Webster etc...

You'll go through a ton of mouthpieces before you find the one that suits you, so take your time. I'm old school, so I still use a Berg Larsen. Most old schoolers use Otto Link though.

I don't care what anyone says, the "Tenor" is the king of saxophones. Welcome to the club.
