UPDATE: Donald Trump Takes Office as the 47th US President

Bernie calls the Establishment "out of touch."
And he's correct. You can't look at Schumer, Jefferies, or Clyburn, to name a few, and tell me they're not out-of-touch. The establishment has been caught lacking since the Trump era (I hate even calling it an era) has began.

There's a reason that we started seeing socialist candidates get elected when Trump came into power. For Obama's two terms, the only socialist was Bernie.

When Trump gets elected the first time, we get AOC and Rashida Tlaib. During Biden's term there are no socialists elected. In Trump's second term we get Mamdani and over 30 DSA primary wins including this most recent one with el-Sayed.

People want something different.

I’ve spent the last 15 days in SE Asia, in particular, I was in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for about 9 of those days.

I was completely disconnected from American politics, only keeping up with what’s going on through this thread. The work I am doing over in these areas mostly involves science and technology while working with government officials and agencies to help modernize their weather capabilities.

I miss home and my family, but it was a joy not to be surrounded by the dumb shit America be doing. I didn’t have to hear about political viewpoints, or see them dumbass red hats, confederate flags, or whatever other dumb shit that goes on here.

No matter where you go in the world, governments have some level of corruption, wages are problematic for the working class, and so many other things.

But visiting schools, Buddhist temples, markets, and simply existing among the people of Cambodia was an enriching experience and a reminder that the rest of the world have their problems and America is an after thought. It was a nice feeling. But I miss home no matter how fucked up our politics are and I would never leave my folks to fight the system alone. I will vote, continue to educate, and inspire young souls to be the best versions of themselves.
Did you get to visit Angkor Wat?

And I couldn't help but think of the Dead Kennedys "Holiday in Cambodia."

Not politics related but always got show some RAM Love!

You probably didn't see this either.

You write that as if I was disagreeing. Funny you left the part off AFTER that because I am not carrying water for anyone. Bernie Sanders giving shine to racist ass rapists is as old as Clyburn, but because he says all the right shyt he gets a pass?? Fcuk that dude! I thought with this whole Graham Platner shyt would have exposed him, but people keep dyck riding this dude.

I make the argument that WE'RE ALL out of touch! From a Clyburn that won't step...he doesn't even need to step down, step ASIDE! I said before don't pass the torch, light the next persons torch. To a Hassan Piker that says he votes third party if the next election is Gavin Newsome versus Donald Trump to the voter that buys into all of their bullshyt and keeps hating on our own party while their guy does the same thing. It's a IG post from Seyed where he is asked what is his plan for the Black community. His answer I read Frederick Douglas and I go to the Charles Wright Museum...to ME and only ME, he might as well have said: "You ain't Black if you don't vote for me!" Now in all fairness he may have answered the question later in the clip, but how is this ANY different than an Establishment answer? Mamdani saying he's gonna arrest Netanyahu and the ONLY bail I give him is how he worded that speech, but he knew he couldn't do that shyt! Motherfcuker talking about Immigrants built this country and then had to go back and apologize.

You want to have a discussion, lets discuss the fcuk I am saying not the argument you want to have. WE are all out of touch. and as out of touch as we are it is SO MUCH BETTER than the alternative. An out of touch, ULTRA racist party!

You're not saying anything except the usual "both sides are bad" bullshit. The only difference here is that two sides you're calling bad are both on the Democratic side.

When did I give Bernie a pass on anything? I said he was correct that the establishment was out of touch. That doesn't mean he's perfect. That doesn't mean I agree with everything he says or does. That means I agree that the establishment is out of touch. This isn't difficult. Furthermore, I didn't just criticize Clyburn, I also mentioned other names.

You keep mentioning Hasan Piker as if he's relevant. He's a Twitch streamer. He's not even running for anything. If you don't agree with him, fine. Who cares?

As for el-Sayed, if Black voters in Michigan don't trust him, then they won't vote for him. It's as simple as that. But this ire for the DSA you've been expressing is goofy and irrational. The DSA isn't responsible for any of the awful shit currently happening in the US at the moment. They don't owe Harris or any of the establishment their loyalty any more than Crocket owes Talarico an endorsement.

I almost decided to go, but I didn’t like the idea I would have had to rush through. I need time to absorb that place, so I’m planning on taking time when I go back. It deserves to be appreciated properly.
I have had a fascination with Cambodia since seeing Tomb Raider as a kid. Then when I saw Killing Fields as an adult and watching Bourdain travel there, it only increased.

And I commend your decision to give the place the attention and respect it deserves.
