This is what happens when people think they can live anywhere they want anyway they want. You'll notice people who have lived in arid regions for generations know how to conserve water and other resources.
In the US Southwest OTOH, you have people wasting water on their lawns and other bullshit. These people aren't living in reality.
I had to argue with people today, who was blaming data sentence for this, and I told them this was always happening before data centers became widespread. This is flat out climate change.
True. Data centers are still awful for both the environment and people and should be fought. But, as you said, climate change and the fact that the US Southwest has too many people living there is a problem separate from data centers.
They've been using burn pits at Area 51 for decades now. There was even a lawsuit about it in the 90s from workers who had gotten sick from the smoke.
