What unpopular opinions do you have?

BGOL would be a lot more interesting if Lexx and Ten operated like the Uday and Qusay Hussein of BGOL.

Haitian Sharks,

but I honestly don't know wtf the difference is between nostalgia, easter eggs, meta refences, member berries and a homage and a throwback reference and a deep cut.

IT seems if you LIKE it? then its positive

If you don't like it or didn't get it? Its bad.

Which means to me?

That it aint about sh*t.
Nostalgia is the studio banking on the audience coming in with warm fuzzy feelings and ready to overlook flaws.

Easter Eggs is them throwing in references (9 outta 10 times completely unnecessary) just so people can go, "oh that's the thing from the thing. I know that reference"

Meta references are those deep cut references that your most annoying hipster friend can't wait to lean over and explain to you, despite you not asking.

Member Berries are when they run out of ideas completely, but the property still makes money so just keep rereleasing the same shit movie every few years. (See the Ghostbuster franchise for reference)

A true deep cut is one of those references to something real. Maybe some real scientific concept in a sci-fi movie. And your most annoying hipster friend is back and can't wait to explain how the movie better than 'you' think because they nailed how the Einstein-Rosen bridge works. Now here's a 15 minute Neil Degrasse Tyson video on YouTube that you didn't ask them for.

At the end of the day. All them bullshit terms translated to: the studio didn't try as hard as they could have, so lower your expectations.

Damn.

Well done

I forgot homage.
An homage means they threw in an explanation to a question no one asked, but because they're 'expanding' the lore with explanation, you can't be mad it, or you're a hater.
(See any modern Indiana Jones, Pirates, or Halloween movie where they explain where they got the hat/mask reference)

@playahaitian

My issue with the roast isn't about poor taste jokes from racists....its about why kev agreed to that line up. Roasts are about (or should be about) the people who know you and you deal with personally. I feel like he doesnt hang out and certainly doesnt do business with someone like hinchcliffe whose whole career is being a habitual line stepper. Same for shane gillis. A person being roasted should be by their friends and associates....people they have a clear connection with. Not just a bunch of randos available at the time.

Where was DL Hughley? Gary Owen? Chris Rock? Dave Chappelle? Cedric? Eddie Griffin? Leslie Jones? Chris Tucker? DeRay? Wanda Sykes, Donnell Rawlings? Roy Wood Jr? and thats just a short list.

All you'd need is two from that list instead of gillis and hinchcliffe and youre gonna tell me NONE of them was available??

Thats where kev fucked up in this issue.

You spitting facts

How’d you know that they’d break up?

The vibe format content and personalities.

:dunno:

One seemed REALLY invested.

The other two?

Not so much.

I didnt like the show overall then and while I understand the changes? now they are just like everyone else. And I don't really like everyone else either.

That's actually the perfection explanation as to why I haven't seen the Kevin Hart roast or most modern roast special. The Red Foxx roast is a gold standard for how to do a comedy roast. Step one, get guest who actually know the person. Other comedians that they came up with on the circuits. People who know the inside jokes and the backstage stories.

Most modern roast with out the guest list by seeing who's currently popular and/or available, irregardless of how well they know the person.

If I'm going to watch Kevin Hart get roasted, I want to see Chappelle, Rock, Wanda, etc taking the stage. Hell imagine getting all those people into a room and then letting Katt Williams headline with free range. Now that shit would be a roast worth talking about.

Exactly...there's nothing edgy about telling crispity crunchity crackily coon jokes...that was in fact what Katt complained about flavor flavs roast... all the white comedians just did that. Make skin color jokes or slavery references. :rolleyes2::rolleyes2: that's what you do when your talking about someone you don't know anything about.

Part of Kevin Harts brand is that he is highly entrepreneurial..and being such means he exerts a high level of control over things around him. So where was the control here? Who exactly was in charge of the show?

All I know is Kevin was in charge enough to personally demand that certain jokes were edited out during the live broadcast
