He underestimated the havoc this would have on the economy. He didn’t think they’d be able to close the strait (which I still don’t know how we let motorboats keep it closed ). He didn’t think about gas prices at all because he didn’t think they’d controls the strait. He underestimated the trickle down effect on inflation. Bond yields. Interest rates. In other words he didn’t think this dust up would affect the world’s economy as negatively as it has. Now he has to cut and run. It became political really fast.

If this regime is so tyrannical and fanatical that they could never, ever be allowed to have a nuclear weapon, then why exactly are we even trusting/negotiating with them in any way, shape, or form?

Why would we allow that regime to reestablish its authority in the mideast and, by the way, is there any comment at all about them not continuing to fund their rabid proxies- or is that supposed to be an assumed part of the agreement now?

Sad to say, I believe all of the concerns from the Republican base are accurate. Trump is losing his nerve, based on the pressure about the energy costs and the commitment we’d need to make to ensure a real win (end of the regime).

I have voted for Trump 3X, and I'II be the first to say this is becoming a disaster. You don't negotiate with crazy, and Iran has the lead on the timing on these "negotiations". This would be about the fourth time they get to the red line, and then say "no deal". Apparently they also get to decide what moves through the Strait, etc, etc. No bueno!

"Trump says not to rush". Because he'll have to face the repercussions and his other issues like the Epstein file, ICE agent trials, missing billions etc. Including the issues of war crimes, and that fact that the invasion was never about "The Straits". He just using it to try and make people forget about all the damage he's done with his toys he wanted so bad to play with. Even the original G.I Joe carried a warning about age appropriations, as does kids in a store with priceless antique glass sculptures. And this exactly what he's done is throughout the U.S since 2024.

Trump’s warnings, his bloviating, his cowardice is on full display. He’s known as TACO for a reason. Republicans made their bed with him, and the repercussions in the midterms will be severe. Only the most diehard MAGAS are still with him, and they’re starting to peel off.

Had a fun conversation about the boycott topic with a coworker. I argued for it, he argued against. Coworker’s argument was valid. Why put this pressure on young kids…that’s some bullshit. My counter to that was that today’s athletes are the same age as many of the people who participated and lead during the civil rights movements AND unfortunately, the impact of those athletes would have a faster and greater affect than what’s happening within government. Fun convo.

Like I said in another post, just the top recruits telling the south to fuck off, would do enough damage. Plus, none of these kids are facing jail or death for not going to southern schools.

RIGHT! I forgot that part of conversation. He was saying, who would pass on making 4M to make 1M per year? My retort was, they would still be millionaires and not sacrificing jail or death.

America is a fucked up place. I’m sorry the United States is a fucked up place. Mexico and Canada has universal healthcare programs. This is a fucking shame.

It's ridiculous that we allow our government to convince us we can't afford it when less prosperous nations can. If I bought guns instead of healthcare or bullets instead food for my kids people would call me an idiot. But in America they can tell us out of the same face we can't afford snap benefits but we need a billion dollar ballroom so the president can party in peace.

Americans should not support one single bomb being dropped on another country until we have healthcare.

DEAFENING SILENCE: “There was silence on the line.” That may have been the most revealing part of Trump’s latest call with leaders of Arab and Muslim nations.
According to U.S. officials, Trump used a Saturday conference call about ending the Iran war to suddenly push Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan and others to sign peace agreements with Israel. The response? Silence. So much silence that Trump reportedly joked to ask if they were still there. It was a moment that showed Trump’s weakness on the global stage.
There’s a reason for that. Saudi officials continue to insist that any normalization with Israel must include an irreversible, time-bound path to a Palestinian state — something the current Israeli government flatly refuses to support.
Trump appears to think he can force sweeping Middle East deals on the fly after dragging the U.S. into another destabilizing conflict. Instead, he was met with dead air.

Getting 10 seconds of silence on a phone call with Donald Trump is like spotting a solar eclipse; rare, dramatic, and somehow he’d still claim it was the greatest silence anyone’s ever heard.:dunno:

@FLoss is a faggot.

Can noncitizens vote?
The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 explicitly prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections. It is not legal in any state for a noncitizen to cast a ballot in an election for federal office. While federal law does not prohibit noncitizens from casting a ballot in state or local elections, no state currently allows noncitizens to vote in statewide elections. Municipalities in three states—California, Maryland, and Vermont—and Washington, DC allow noncitizens to vote in certain local elections.1

San Francisco allows resident noncitizen parents and guardians to vote in school board elections.
Oakland passed a ballot measure in 2022 also giving noncitizen parents and legal guardians the ability to vote in school board elections. The measure is still pending implementation.
Several municipalities in Maryland and Vermont permit noncitizens to vote in municipal elections.
Washington, DC, began allowing noncitizen residents to vote in non-federal elections in 2022.
Election offices in communities that allow noncitizens to vote in local elections maintain processes to ensure that a registered noncitizen voter cannot vote for state or federal races. Maryland’s cities, for example, maintain separate ballots for municipal elections. This ensures that noncitizens cannot receive a ballot for state or federal contests.
