Movie News: Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan - SINNERS - jim crow era vampire flick (SPOILERS OPEN!!!)

Respectfully fuk you for completely dismissing my opinions Vish. :hmm:

For what it was Black hawk was fine and the buzz reviews and campaign made it a no Brainer for voters regardless of what it was cheating off of. And they love based on a true story stuff. I honestly i need to re-watch it.

Knives out aint to be just dismissed like that. We seen MUCH worse nominations. I LIKED Gosford Park. Got the DVD somewhere

Mulholland Drive was way too out there to be nominated looking back but for some reason it really connected with critics and audiences and seemed "accessible " for those maybe unfamiliar with Lynch? I just remember it being well received and reviewed in real time.

I aint hearing any LOTR slander nope.

And your 100% right

A white director does Training Day?

its considered a tour de force crowning achievement.

I know its loved NOW...

but how was it reviewed at the time?

I said it earlier that they was going to make sure Paul Thomas Anderson won an Oscar. I don't necessarily want to say that it was a makeup Oscar, but I guess they figured Ryan Coogler win an Oscar. Paul Thomas Anderson was going to win at least one, and he won two

Sinners walked away with four Oscars, not bad. One could argue they got jobbed out of best picture, but one battle after another was pretty good, so I'm not going to say it was a complete fix.

Should have gotten best cast easily.

You had a newly discovered first time actor singer in Miles who learned to play the guitar at a professional level in months enough to win a Grammy and Oscar nomination

How in the hell doesn't that win you best casting?

Hey Mama... whats up?

Yall catch that?

Yet the Academy didn't vote him Best Director

Placed in context, the moment reflected a broader shift unfolding across the industry. In recent years, Black women have broken barriers in production design through Hannah Beachler and in costume design through Ruth E. Carter. Now cinematography joins that list.

Each of those milestones came through films directed by Ryan Coogler, underscoring how the filmmaker’s influence extends beyond storytelling into reshaping opportunities behind the camera.

This movie will be in more schools than most people believe.....Can't wait to see some of the universities across the country create curriculums for the movie.....

It's movies like this and hearing Ryan say this makes me want to become a professor one day considering I can name a few professors that made an impact on me and my career.....

There isn't a greater feeling in the world

So glad he honored the woman that gave him the push to pursue this as a career...

ALL CACS NOT THE SAME

The fact that he hid his dimples for one character and not the other is next level. To be cognizant of that for an entire movie, next level.

You literally have to have your jaw flexed and hold your jaw in a certain way to get dimples to disappear, and then to be able to hold it and read lines? That's Best Actor shit right there
