At the very least, this whole discussion about obtaining a PhD has been fascinating. I have two close friends that dropped out of their programs. It’s a touchy subject that we don’t bring up.

Yeah, sounds like he was overselling himself, which from my understanding, wasn’t even necessary. Also, many folks that have a doctorate are still linked to their institution.

This whole thing is interesting because I didn’t know the extent people will go to validate themselves with bullshit fake degrees.

I just have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. I think at the very least he has earned that and that should be just fine. I graduated from HS as a so-so student but I knew that's what I wanted to do. When I got to college, I started with algebra, then trig, then pre-calc, calc 1, calc 2, calc 3, Diff EQ, probability and statisticslinear algebra, abstract algebra, etc... I had to start from pretty much the bottom because I didn't apply myself earlier in life.

I think it's disrespectful to people who have advanced degrees, such as yourself, to fake that shit. I know you said you have a master's and Ph.D earlier in this thread and I can't imagine the amount of time and work required to obtain it. I knew what my limit was and the time I had to put in just to get that. I'm proud of it and didn't see a need to exaggerate. Dude pretty much fucked up his money lying about shit he didn't have to lie about. He HAS put in work for the community and used his platform to highlight bullshit that largely affects black folks. It would probably take a psychiatrist or someone far more qualified to truly explain it.

That is a VERY touchy subject that many NEVER get over. Not getting your masters, PhD, doctorate, certification hell your degree period can be very triggering for MANY.

While he calls out the grift of others, it's also mature and objective to research him and see what angle he's coming from, especially considering everything he's doing is monetized.

Also, he stated that younger generations are less likely to be swayed by the likes of Tariq (I'm on record saying the same thing on this board) and I'd like to think that Cam is happy that people are skeptical of him at first and do their homework to figure out where he's coming from and what he's about.

Now, I'll say this: before people get on the Cam train, people understand Cam is going to come from a very left-wing position, probably not the gimmicky far-left bout the solid progressive left. Social Blade is not accurate, and the only YouTuber to ever give an exact number on what they've been paid is Tariq Nasheed who claimed he made $6,000 in passive income when he doing ad-free live streams, take that with a grain of salt because it's Tariq

Agreed, I'll have to see more from him as well, but the issue will come from the fact that he does video essays which can range from 15 minutes to an hour and some people don't have the time to listen, so points, context and detail can get lost.

My problem with many who doubted before is that they were attacking the messenger, not the message.

Sure he has came at mostly black people because he is black and those individuals are the ones who primarily come for black folks and who black people care about.

He has never hid his background and was also open with his political leanings and that he is doing YouTube full time after quitting his advertising job. Unlike Richey whom, from his thesis/dissertation, has some interesting or questionable right-leaning viewpoints while giving the outward impression that he is progressive.

Cam was punching far above his weight class with the YouTube shit because Richey has well over a million subscribers and pumps out several videos nowadays that didn't really advance the issue like he used to do. If anything, he is the one relying heavily on YouTube to make a living. I see nothing wrong with Cam using Patreon because he is open about it and it's supporting a small team. Those exposé's take significant research and time.

Controls systems was my concentration. I Internet with DTE Energy when I was still living in Michigan and they offered to bring me on permanently after I Graduated. Was mostly doing work with PLC's and PID controllers. Eventually got my PE (professional engineering) certification and was more in the field at that point.

I admit, I'm not currently practicing though and haven't been for a while. I make a living as an options trader on NADEX currently. Been doing that for almost a decade now.
