How’d you like it?

Finally saw the predator bad lands a few days ago.. Had the lowest expectations for this film cause I like the predator like the first 1 dark, like a horror, gory.. Didn't want to see Zelda predator or him be a hero.. But I can honestly say it was ok.. Definitely not my favorite , not even number 2 but ill let it live in its own universe.. Would I have paid to see it, nope but a free tix and a boring weekend might have gone to view it

Jay Kelly

PRAISE: Sometimes its only at a certain age or nearing the end of a career that a person realizes or wishes they could have done things differently in life. This is what is at the core of this movie about a famous movie star Jay Kelly and his devoted manager, Ron, both men confront the choices they've made, relationships with loved ones, and the legacies they'll leave behind. The performances are very good from George Clooney as Jay Kelly,Adam Sandler as Ron Sukenick,Laura Dern as Liz
Billy Crudup as Timothy,Greta Gerwig as Lois Sukenick and Jim Broadbent as Peter Schneider.
I thought the movie did a great job of showing how fame can control your life. So much so the people that are supposed to be a priority in your life gets pushed to the side. There is a standout scene in the movie and also a moving one that displays how ones glowing career can trickle down to those in your circle including your agent and manager and how their lives are also altered in ways that can change their lives for the good and the bad. The friendships, bonds with family are given the backseat so much it is a struggle and then some to try and gain some type of footing when far to much time has passed without a person actually being there and being inclusive. This is also brought out in another key scene which displays how even with a busy career familial bonds can be maintained. I liked how a number of scenes displayed truths about Hollywood sets and how seductive they can be not only from a bond you make with a co star of the opposite sex but how what you are missing in life you are in a way given in a character a person is playing.

PROBLEMS: There are a few clunky moments that don't feel as genuine as others do in the movie that add up to them also feeling artificial.

I remember TK Carter and loved his acting. I remember loving everything that he was in. This isn't as much of a tragedy as much as it's an example of someone born 20 or 30 years too soon. Calvin Lockhart is another example of someone born 20 or 30 years too soon.

As a TV and movie guy, I watch an actor's eyes which shows me how deeply they are engaged. It's one of those small things that an actor can do to show that they are truly there and locked in. He was one of those guys, just like Calvin Lockhart but the age that they were born It was a game of musical chairs with black actors and there were like three chairs. It's better now, but he's almost 70 now.

He could have been bigger and it's sad that he wasn't

Here are two things about me: I recently directed and co-wrote a film starring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner. It’s called “Eternity” and it’s set in the afterlife. I also recently had an apple-sized tumor removed from my head.

NO OTHER CHOICE

Solid shit. As expected. Park Chanwook with another one.

One sequence had some moments that may live on for some time… that’s become a staple of his work after folks got stuck on the hallway fight in OLDBOY for example.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this is adapted from a Donald “Parker” Westlake story. I dig when different cultures find GOOD ways to adapt stories from others… track record is STRONG for everyone (Asia especially - see Kurosawa etc) adapting American stories… not very good at all for US adapting from others lol. Here they are working from a non “Parker” story I assume.
- side note - Wahlberg just played “Parker” last I believe in PLAY DIRTY from Shane Black on Prime but idk maybe Mel Gibson is the most popular “Parker” bec of Lucy Liu and PAYBACK lol.

Anyway. If you know Park’s work (VENGEANCE TRILOGY, DECISION TO LEAVE) you don’t need a word thumbs upping it to get you in theaters or watching however you can asap

If you have any interest - check it out. I believe you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the review - I've heard good things about this one in articles and podcasts!

Next year is the 40th anniversary ...

Stand by Me is a 1986 American coming-of-age drama film[5] directed by Rob Reiner. Based on Stephen King's 1982 novella The Body, the film is set in the fictional town of Castle Rock in 1959. Stand by Me stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, and Jerry O'Connell as four boys who set out on a journey to find the dead body of a missing boy. The film's title is derived from the 1961 song of the same name by Ben E. King, which plays during the film's closing credits.

Stand by Me received positive reviews upon release[6] and was a commercial success. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and for two Golden Globe Awards (Best Drama Motion Picture and Best Director). Rolling Stone has called Stand by Me "a staple of youthful nostalgia" and "the rare movie that necessarily gets better with time".

Now these the type lists WE FUCK WIT!! :giggle::giggle::giggle:

Years back I went and listened to some of the archived podcasts from Mr. Skin. That dude is smart ... encyclopedic mind for T&A, and his female cohost seemed cool (sounded middle-aged) and appreciated female beauty too.

Side note ... the AZNUDE website is a great resource for anyone looking to track down their fave stars nude / semi-nude scenes. That site is huge and a personal fave in recent years.

Some of the other stuff I've got saved for her @playahaitian = Die My Love / Only Murders in the Building / Slow Horses / The Lowdown / Down Cemetery Road / Pluribus / Roofman / Chris Hemsworth: A Roadtrip to Remember.

The Family Mcmullen

If you are looking for a romantic movie to watch with your spouse or significant other and something extremely easy going this is the one. There is barely any conflict in the movie. Mainly its about old loves, friends and starting new love. It was fun spending time with these characters again that were created by Edward Burns thirty years ago in The Brothers Mcmullen. It is extremely predictable though but I can't say I didn't smile throughout it. A nice movie to watch on a Sunday or during the holiday breaks.

Frontier Crucible

Who doesn't love a good western. This movie has enough going for it to make it watchable. A former soldier with a tragic past is thrown into an uneasy alliance with three outlaws, a beautiful woman, and her injured husband. Its well acted for the most part but there was definitely times I said that was some terrible acting.Myles Clohessy looks like Jason Lee but did pretty good in his role.Thomas Jane and Armie Hammer also do well in their roles. There is a good amount of tension as bargains are put on the table and trust is questionable and then some. There are some scenes of ultra violence and torture that are not for the faint of heart. In a movie like this ,like the ones Clint Eastwood could make an act in with ease the pacing should have been far better. There are some scenes that I couldn't help but unintentionally laugh at because of the way they were filmed.

Pose

When a independent and artsy movie like this stars a talented and versatile actor like James McAvoy there is hope that the movie will be good and highly watchable. But all hope was lost after the first thirty minutes of the movie for me. Its about two photographers and their muses ending up at the same home together for the ultimate photo shoot. It is boring and pretentious with a capital P. I did like a couple of performances and when I didn't know what to make of McAvoy's character. In the end I can't even recommend this as background noise.
