Why are Black people still Christian?

What religion should Black be?

Interesting breakdown here about how it was incorporated into actual Christian doctrine to justify enslaving blacks

You know, it's funny you should post this.

I have not watched the video yet, but I am familiar with the so-called Curse of Ham.

I spent some time in the Boston area a few years back. After a few days, my former college buddy
and then host confirmed the Haitians (there were a lot of Brazilians, Haitians, and assorted S. Americans in the area) were indeed treating me as if I were not fully human. They were literally going out of their way to be disrespectful, and were the only group that would not speak nor make eye contact with me. Come to find out, a lot of the Haitians in the area were also members of the Church of Latter Day Saints.

I struck up a conversation with a couple of Haitian women in a thrift shop one of them owned. They were warning me not to go into any neighborhood that was predominantly black. They went out of there way to let me know they looked down, WAY down, upon African Americans.

The irony...women the color of Miles Davis, from one of the poorest, most crime infested nation on the planet, telling my half breed looking ass how fucked up Black Americans were. Pitiful.

Looking back, it makes sense now. What should one really expect from people who practice a religion that only reluctantly recognized their humanity, and only after being shamed into doing so?

I asked myself that question 25 years ago and walked away from religion. Not sure why its taking people so long to catch up.
It's tough to undo brainwashing that literally starts at birth. Some individuals are doubters as children, and when they become adolescents, they begin to assert their independent thought from their parents. That would be half the folks I encounter at Athiest/Agnostic meetups. At some of our meetups, half of the group consists of people of color. On occasion, we have a unicorn show up. That would be a straight black woman who is an atheist. I think one of the worst things that could be done to a child is religious indoctrination. It leaves a "backdoor" in the child's mind that is there to be exploited for his entire life. This is how cults continue to exist.

Pretty much this. It's been beaten into people's heads that if they leave it, they're destined to spend all of eternity in a lake of fire, in pitch black darkness, while being eaten by maggots. Basically the worst shit you could possibly come up with to make people stay in line. There are a lot of folks out here that are so indoctrinated in religion that they likely wouldn't even know how to make their own life decisions without someone telling them what they should be doing. A large portion of my family is exactly that way. They hate when you outsmart them using logical reasoning and will get pissed off at you because they do not like to be wrong. And, will still argue with you even if they are wrong.

I know this interview is long.....
But ya'll have to check this out, when ya'll have some time

im not religious....at all

that said: i dont see the problem that some have with religion...at the base of all of them is simply a guide to living a good life...

the problem is the people that interpret them that causes all the drama...killing etc
Seems a short-sighted position to take. Religion is and has been anything but innocuous! Religion has spawned more human death than squabbles over land, politics or money. The christian buy-bull, for example, is said to be the main reason the New World slave trade didn't die 100 years earlier than it eventually did. The buy-bull fully endorses slavery even detailing how slaves should be beaten! Without christian religion Africa would be something more, I'm sure, than the cac loving, self-loathing, skin bleaching bunch of entranced zombies that they generally are today, unwilling and unable to mount a fight against european oppressors in their own defense. There exists a slew of reasons that melanated people should organize a fight to put to an end all facets of religion, and especially christianity! I personally wish chistianity a damnation to hell (if the place really existed) and for jeebus, a second crucifixion, but far more lasting than 3 days. It's all bullshit, but anything but harmless.

Would you argue with a North Korean about their Dear Leader? Why would you argue with a believer? Leave those people alone and don’t behave like those European missionaries sent to foreign lands to conquer minds.
I grew up in the Pentecostal church from the time I was born. I think it was around 15 or so when it started to not make any sense to me when I started reading other things outside of the Bible. I went as far as getting a work permit just so I could get a job and not have to go sit in there and watch all those folks faking for 2+ hours every Friday and twice on Sundays. Once I graduated, I haven't been back to a church since. That was over 20 years ago and I have no desire to ever go back. Some of the most judgmental, hateful people I've ever been around.

They called me crazy and tried to make me seem like I was the weird one for not going along with it. But, it's not crazy to believe that one man managed to collect 2 of every animal on the entire planet, got them all on a boat without them slaughtering each other, and saved them....while everyone that wasn't on the boat died...in the entire world. My mind is just too logical to let me believe stuff like that so it just doesn't work for me. The only reason I went to church voluntarily was because I was fuckin like 4 of those girls that used to get up there and sing in the choir and fall all out on the floor like they had the holy spirit.

But get to that parking lot after church and they were down for whatever.
wait until you wonder if she is faking rolling on the floor where else can she engage in such theatre.
