This is what should be bothering people. They're already spread thin from people calling out of work as it is. And the few that are showing up are stressed the fuck out worried about how they're going to make ends meet. This is all while holding the lives of thousands of people in their hands at the same time. I'd almost bet that this is going to be what ends the shutdown. This doesn't just affect passenger airlines, private jets too. If the shutdown lasts until Thanksgiving, you'll be lucky if there are any ATC left.

Getting on a plane right now is foolish. By the time Thanksgiving gets here, it'll be even more foolish. The people responsible for keeping you from crashing into another plane haven't been paid in a month. Imagine you have young kids and they go to daycare, how you gonna pay for it? How you buying groceries? How are you paying rent/mortgage? People calling out left and right leaving the people that are actually still showing up stressed the fuck out. Hell, there may not be any left by the time Thanksgiving rolls around. That would be 3 more weeks of not being paid... how many are actually gonna do that?
