*** BGOL Runners: Motivational Thread for Long Distance Running ***

Oh shit. That sucks. Hopefully your recovery went well.
Nah it actually came from doing bleachers.
My tall ass was skipping 3 and 4 steps and shit.
Felt that pull and collapsed like the Dow Jones nigga.
The pain aint as bad as it was on day one.....and i dont have to walk as gingerly. But im still not back to 100% yet. More like 85%.
Another week and i will be str8.

Congrats man! You keeping a pace under 8:30 for nearly 11 miles is wild. I’m going to start my longer runs soon. The weather is about to optimal for us! You going for any personal records this fall? Possibly join a race?

I finished August with a sub 8 minute per mile pace. My 6 miles per week streak is up to 31 and I broke a 3 mile record on Thursday. And I clocked speeds up to 14.7 mph on my morning run today. I spent the last 2 months focus on raw 5k speeds. The results were surprising to me. My weight is down to 179 pounds.

Thanks man. These people talked me into the NYC 18 miler with themin three weeks,i had no intentions of doing a race this year. Im back to work now so the miles are about to taper .

Congrats on the weight loat and keep up the good work/progress

Still cooking.

My pace per mile on my 5ks are consistently under 8 minutes, which is really good for me.

33 weeks in a row for 6 miles or more per week. I feel great and moving well. Weight still hanging around 180.

41 years old
6’2
180 pounds

Other metrics:
VO2 max is at 49, which is my endurance levels.
Resting heart rate gets as low as 38 beats per minutes (max up to 183 during workouts).
Cardio recovery is about 43 beats per minute.

I only run two times a week, so consistently also pays off too.

That's awesome man. I can't fuck with marathons. In fact, I hate running and I have to do this shit every six months in the military and with this TRT I'm on I done shot up to 235lbs lifting weights. Can't be running no marathons at that weight.

Yeah, that weight is tough to run at. Lol

I started running when I was at 228. That’s was in 2018. Down to 180 now.

I’m still at it eve though I haven’t posted in a while. I wanted to extend my distance, but I started dealing with some knee soreness that bothered me. The soreness didn’t degrade my performance, but I played it safe and stuck with my regular 5k runs during October.

The result was my fastest month ever recorded.

The knee soreness was from an old childhood growth spurt. I remember the same feeling and tenderness in my knee.

I’m traveling in Vietnam for work, and I’m on Phu Quoc island. I just got a 5 miler running to the Gulf of Thailand. It’s very humid here and I’m unknown to the area so I kept a slower pace. There were lots of steep hills too. I got to run through the culture of Vietnam, and their market place which cool as hell.

That looks pretty dope

That looks pretty dope

It was. I just back to NC like an hour ago.

Wherever I travel, I try to get a run in. Last year when I went to Vietnam, I ran in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

This year in Phu Quoc, I was deep into the community. I ended up here, then ran back to the resort. I wasn’t alone though.

Hey, man. I think it’s time for you to step outside the country and look to do some international marathons. You already proven you can handle it.

A FB friend of mine did one in Germany. And there was one in Hanoi next weekend. That would be a dope experience for you.

Just seent this thread. See my gods are getting it in, respect!

I only run in 5 minute intervals on the treadmill at the gym before every workout and havent done a long run in years but I've been thinking about it recently.

At the start of every workout I

a)walk for 3 minutes to warm up

b)turn off the treadmill turn backwards and push the belt as hard as I can going all out for 5 minutes straight simulating a sled drag

c)immediately turn around and run for 5 minutes -10 mph for the first 3 minutes and at the max 12mph for the last 2 minutes.

I'm always drenched with sweat like I just came in from a monsoon then I do whatever routine I have for the day. 5-6 days a week.

I dont wear shoes for any of the non rumning parts of my gym sessions so I'm walking around in my socks like a fuckin heathen for the next 45 to an hour

I plan to one day God willing.
My Job schedule doesn't always allow for training.
There are 6 major ones
London, tokyo, berlin, new york, boston, chicago.

Boston being the hardest to get in

I really focused on speed this year because of the amount of time a long run consumes. I find 5Ks to be a perfect balance for long enough and speed building. At my age, I have been about to max out at 14.5 mph. And that’s clocking up hill.

Yessir! Keep up the great work.

I’m still at 6 miles a week. But my schedule and work has been messing with me a bit. I was going to run this morning but decided to do it tomorrow.
thats wassup i did 25 miles this week. I was supposed to run yesterday morning ,but it was wet out, told them to go on wothout me. Today was colder, but the sun was shining, had a great run.

Ill run in rain all summer, but winter time i need my sun

Yeah, that vitamin D is crucial during the winter. I’m actually approaching my chill month which is January where I usually take 3 weeks off for recovery. So I’m going to try and push through for the rest of the year and finish strong.
