I’m not saying it’s impossible I just think basketball is the hardest sport because it changes the most. They didn’t shoot the 3 like they do even ten years ago; let alone 20 or 30 years! For example hockey they give assist to several players because of how the play and player involved set up. Step can set a screen for a player and then run to the 3; both defenders run to him and now his teammate gets an open shot; green passes to teammate and it’s a bucket; who created that? It wasn’t green passes that did; it was all Steph; but who got the assist? And that’s one example of many examples of not quantifying or giving credit to the actual player! People say green with the pass but it was actually Steph the whole time! There is always recency bias and because one didn’t see one play, lots of people don’t give that person credit! People say well wilt was bigger than everyone; but so was Shaq lol; so is LBJ lol; but because of recency bias, people don’t look at like that …So how would you rank the recency bias vs respect for history among fans and analysts of each sport? Or are you saying it’s impossible because of the difference in the difficulty of making comparisons?
