I heard Roy Wood Jr. speak on the Karen Hunter Show yesterday, and he talked about that show being canceled. This guy is an insider and will probably have a lot more information about the situation. He indicated that the show was losing $40 million a year and that Colbert was making $15 to $16 million a year. Even if he worked for free, the show would’ve still been in the hole $25 million. They also cut Jimmy Fallon’s show budget, which had nothing to do with Trump. The Late Late Show with James Corden was also cancelled in 2023
If we’re being honest, I think people have to start looking at the fact that late-night television talk shows are from the 20th century. We no longer live in that century—this is the 21st century—and those types of shows have played out.
