Report: Israel arms Fatah-linked gangs in Gaza to fight Hamas

Thursday, 03 July 2025 6:51 PM [ Last Update: Thursday, 03 July 2025 6:51 PM ]

Israel is cooperating with three Gaza-based armed groups, including two Fatah-affiliated armed groups in Gaza City and Khan Yunis, which receive the regime’s support and funding from the Palestinian Authority, according to Ynet.

The new groups are led by Rami Khalas in Gaza City and Yasser Khanidek in Khan Yunis. Khalas is active in the Shejaiya neighborhood, while Khanidek’s group operates in southern Gaza—both areas where Israeli forces are deployed under “Operation Gideon’s Chariots.”

According to Ynet, the Palestinian Authority - the Fatah-controlled government body that exercises partial control over the Israeli-occupied West Bank - started paying the groups' salaries last month, preceding Israel's recent cooperation with them.

Both groups have long-standing rivalries with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. The Khalas clan has long been hostile toward Hamas, stemming from confrontations between the two groups after Hamas took control over Gaza in 2007.

The Barbakh clan has recently resurfaced. Last week, members of the same family were reportedly involved in armed attacks on Khan Yunis' Nasser Medical Complex, further suggesting the group’s expanded operational role under Israeli protection.

The Daesh-linked Abu Shabab group—first exposed weeks ago as operating with Israeli backing in Rafah—remains active in the southern “buffer zone.”

According to Channel 13, Israel is arming and equipping these groups with weapons, vehicles, and logistical aid, while deploying them in operations such as house raids and direct clashes with Hamas.

Similar to the Abu Shabab group in southern Gaza, the newly uncovered northern militia operates from bases positioned close to Israeli military positions.

Hamas issues 10-day ultimatum to Daesh-linked group leader to surrender over ties to Israel
This provides the strongest indication to date of Israel's escalating tactic to divide the Palestinian society internally, leveraging allied armed groups to combat Hamas while systematically dismantling Gaza's governance and social infrastructure.

On Wednesday, Hamas gave Yasser Jihad Abu Shabab, leader of a Daesh-linked group, 10 days to surrender to authorities over ties to the Israeli regime.

Hamas’ armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, slammed Abu Shabab for leading a network of collaborators recruited by Israel to sow chaos in the Gaza Strip.

Yemen backs Gaza ceasefire talks, calls on Palestinians to negotiate with ‘heads held high’

Tuesday, 08 July 2025 10:39 AM [ Last Update: Tuesday, 08 July 2025 10:39 AM ]

The chairman of Yemen's Supreme Political Council has reaffirmed his country’s unstinting support for the Qatari-brokered ceasefire talks between the Palestinian resistance groups and the Israeli occupation regime for an end to the long-running genocidal war in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Mahdi al-Mashat, cited by Yemen's al-Masirah television channel on Monday, stressed that Sana’a will keep up its support for Gaza until the Israeli onslaught on the besieged Palestinian territory is halted.

"Negotiate with your heads held high, for we are with you, and all the capabilities of our people are a support for you until the siege is lifted and the aggression against you stops," Mashat said.

He added that the enemy's threats will fail to cause Yemenis to turn a hair, stressing, "We will continue to support our people in Gaza and defend the sovereignty of our country with all the strength we possess and our surprises will come one after another.”

Underlining that Yemen stands firm in its supportive positions for the people in Gaza until victory is achieved, Mashat said, “No Zionist aggression, no matter its size or effects, will deter the Yemeni people from backing Gaza."

The senior official also praised the Yemeni armed forces for their high vigilance and readiness in defending the country and deterring aggressors.

"Yemen is the field of final blows, not a field for showtime. This is what history says, and the present time will prove it, God willing," Mashat noted.

Indirect talks between the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israel over a ceasefire and prisoners swap deal in Gaza continued for a second day on Monday.

Hamas says responded in ‘positive spirit’ to Gaza ceasefire proposal

The current proposal envisages a phased release of about 28 captives held by Hamas during an initial 60-day ceasefire, as well as the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, Israeli troop withdrawals from parts of Gaza, a surge of humanitarian aid and discussions on a definitive end to the 21-month conflict.

Back in March, a previous ceasefire collapsed when Israel reneged on a promise to engage in negotiations that would have led to a second scheduled phase of the truce and possibly a permanent cessation of hostilities.

Hamas officials have now demanded strong guarantees that Israel will not launch a new offensive after the 60 days is over.

Israel has waged an all-out military onslaught on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, killing at least 57,523 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 136,617 others.

So there was deathly ambush in Beir Hanoun and Khan Yunis

Seems like a nearly 12 killed for the IDF

Hamas agrees to releasing 10 Israeli captives to help advance ceasefire talks

Hamas has announced that it has agreed to the release 10 Israeli captives, expressing hope that the step would facilitate progress towards a comprehensive ceasefire deal enabling termination of the Israeli regime’s October 2023-present genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Palestinian resistance movement said its leadership was engaged in “intensive and responsible efforts” to ensure the success of indirect ceasefire talks.

The group stressed that it remained committed to reaching an agreement that would end the Israeli attacks, secure the free flow of humanitarian aid, and ease the dire humanitarian conditions brought about by the combination of the genocide and a near-total Israeli-imposed siege in the coastal sliver.

“The movement has shown the necessary flexibility and agreed to release 10 captives,” it said, adding that it was determined to keep working with mediators “diligently and with a positive spirit” to overcome obstacles.

However, the movement underscored that key points were still under negotiation.

Chief among them were guarantees for a permanent ceasefire, a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory, and unrestricted delivery of relief supplies.

“Despite the difficulty of negotiations on these issues so far due to the intransigence of the occupation, we continue to work tirelessly to end the suffering of our people and ensure their aspirations for freedom, security, and a dignified life,” the statement concluded.

The announcement came after the United States said it was optimistic over the prospect of an agreement.

Steven Witkoff, the US’s special envoy for the West Asia region, said on Tuesday he hoped the two sides could reach a deal by week’s end that would establish a 60-day truce.

Witkoff indicated that the proposed arrangement would include Hamas’ releasing up to 10 living Israeli captives, along with the remains of nine others.

However, he did not outline concrete measures that would directly address the plight of Palestinians in Gaza, who have endured nearly 21 months of devastating genocide that has claimed the lives of nearly 57,700 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

The American envoy’s remarks followed a Monday meeting between President Donald Trump and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. Trump was expected to meet Netanyahu again on Tuesday, with Gaza reportedly topping their agenda

Efforts to broker a truce have faced repeated setbacks. A ceasefire that took effect in January collapsed by mid-March, after Israeli forces not only resumed, but intensified their operations in Gaza.

The territory, under an Israeli blockade since 2007, has also faced even harsher restrictions ever since the ceasefire broke down.

Israel’s inclination to sustain war

Reports from Israeli and Palestinian officials alike have suggested that Netanyahu has been resisting moves towards a durable ceasefire, viewing the continuation of military operations as politically advantageous.

Former chief of the regime’s Shin Bet spy agency Ronen Bar and other Israeli officials have acknowledged that prolonging the warfare could serve Netanyahu’s efforts to maintain his hold on power.

Hamas says the Israeli spy chief’s recent damning remarks has revealed the Israeli prime minister to be the main obstacle to effective negotiations.
The Israeli premier has identified the genocide as the sole means of enabling the return of the Israeli captives, who remained in Gaza.

Hamas has, however, so far reported that numerous captives had been killed in the regime’s own airstrikes, contradicting Netanyahu’s assertions.

Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz revealed in May that at least 20 captives had been killed by Israeli military action since the war began.

Background of American betrayal

Also in May, Hamas freed Israeli-American trooper Edan Alexander, raising hopes of easing the crisis.

The movement later said Witkoff had promised US pressure on Tel Aviv to lift the blockade and allow humanitarian access within two days of Alexander’s release. That commitment, however, has yet to materialize.

Besides refusing to bring pressure to bear on the regime to end the genocide, Washington has been providing the war with billions of dollars in military support, besides shielding Tel Aviv against punitive United Nations resolutions

GHF proposes transit camps to relocate Palestinians from Gaza

Monday, 07 July 2025 6:39 PM [ Last Update: Monday, 07 July 2025 6:39 PM ]

In a desperate attempt to evict Palestinians from Gaza, the controversial Israel-US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has proposed building camps inside, and possibly outside, the besieged strip to temporarily shelter the population.

Media outlets quoting sources reported that the $2-billion plan was submitted to US President Donald Trump's administration and recently discussed in the White House.

The plan created after February 11 describes "large-scale" sites where the Palestinian population in the blockaded Palestinian territory could "temporarily reside, deradicalize, re-integrate and prepare to relocate if they wish to do so."

A slide deck goes into detail about these camps and how they would be used to "gain trust with the local population" and facilitate Trump's "vision for Gaza".

The slide presentation said that the GHF was "working to secure" over $2 billion for the project.

The US-Israeli backed organization is now set to "build, secure and oversee large-scale so-called Humanitarian Transit Areas (HTAs) inside and potentially outside Gaza Strip for the population to reside while Gaza is demilitarized and rebuilt".

In February, Trump said the US should "take over" Gaza and rebuild it as the "Riviera of the Middle East", after ethnically cleansing the population outside of the besieged territory.

Benjamin Netanyahu says he is “committed” to Trump’s controversial proposal to take over the Gaza Strip and displace its Palestinian residents.

Legal experts say the vicious scheme would violate international law and amount to ethnic cleansing.

The aid plan has also been widely criticized for its unfair and inadequate distribution system.

Analysts, activists, and aid agencies have described the plan as a "mockery" of humanitarian law.

International aid agencies have already warned that Israeli plans to control aid distribution in Gaza, including the US-backed proposal, will only add to the suffering in the devastated Palestinian territory.

Philippe Lazzarini, the head of UNRWA, says the newly established aid distribution sites run by the GHF in the Gaza Strip have become “death traps” for starving civilians in the blockaded territory.
Rights groups and Palestinian officials have condemned such forced displacement orders as collective punishment and part of Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza.

Virtually 90% of the population of the Gaza Strip has been displaced at least once since October 2023, when Israel launched its aggression against Gaza.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has time and again said the newly established aid distribution sites run by the GHF have become “death traps” for starving civilians and a displacement tool.
