Did you know your Ex wife can apply for a portion of your social security benefits?

She doesn't need your approval to collect.

If your salary went up over the years after divorce she can claim benefits based on your HIGHER income.

Wondering about the eligibility criteria to collect an ex-spouse's Social Security benefits? Run through the checklist below to see if you qualify (you must meet all of the criteria):

You were married to that spouse for 10 years or more and have been divorced for at least 2 years (only applies if that spouse isn't claiming yet).

You're at least 62 years old.

You're currently unmarried.

Your ex-spouse is eligible for Social Security retirement or disability benefits.

Additionally, your own income may affect eligibility.

Welp ain’t shit you can really do about it if you were married for 10 years so what’s the point, getting people blood pressure up?

The shit applies to both men and women. The key word is “your ex-spouse.”

Just sharing the knowledge.

We must be financially savvy.
I guess, but you can’t control what you can’t control. I’m not 100% sure, but from my understanding of how it works from the video she says “Your benefits will not effect the amount your ex-spouse or their current spouse receives” so again it might not even matter. Your benefits won’t be affected.:dunno:

I knew this married dude who went to the Dominican Republic. He told his wife he was going on a fishing trip to Florida. The wife found the pics and sex tapes on his phone. She divorced him and filed for equitable distribution. He had to sell their house and give her half, half his 401k, and half of his retirement :smh:
