Movie News: Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan - SINNERS - jim crow era vampire flick (SPOILERS OPEN!!!)

Wb making a bad mistake. They think it will be supported without Coogler attached? Also, doesn't he have rights to the original IP?
They'll have to pay him regardless, but with him it's not about the money. This is a big mistake, and it will likely flop, either because it will be a lack luster movie or the word of mouth won't be anywhere near as strong. However, we live in a world where there is a fast and the furious 10, so they don't care about ruining IP

White folks have never heard of Scary Movie. Let them have Airplane and live your life.

Man, that was most excellent.....

This puts into perspective why the KKK came the next day. No way they could let some Brothers build something and get the community involved. A something of their own which would build pride. If they had the juke joint next what would they build. Age ole shit
The montage at the end of the film gave it away. Those black folks worked all day for gangstas and they still had to spend their slave money on liquor. The little, light-skinned girl was paid, but the 2 grown, dark skin women were not paid in cash.

Delta Slim was paid in booze and Cornbread was paid in hypothetical dick sucks. Sammie wasn't paid either.

Only the little girl, Grace, and The Klan were paid paid. Why was the Klan overpaid?

Modern Culture Vulture Vampires still exist: case-in-point David Guetta claims that his DJing pre-dated House Music; however, the people of social media Threads strongly disagree. I guess David Guetta was triggered by Sinners....lol.

Would BGOL prefer a sequel with the 2 you know who today

Or a prequel the twins their time in the war and then gangland Chicago

?

Both...

But in all seriousness I was leaning towards a prequel leading up to and including their time in Chicago..we could see: the Genesis of their relationships with Mary and Annie, Smokes time in the war, how they navigated the Chicago underworld and worked for and ripped off the Irish and Italian Mobs.
A prequel would be the only way we would get to see Smoke involved in a real way and not just flashbacks...

But then I'm thinking about how stack and Mary became vampires and how their characters are ruled by the pursuit of base desires..lust, greed, money, upward mobility etc..

I think of the spaces they would've inhabited throughout time....the Heroin trade in the 50s -70s, crack game in the 80s, Sports agent, or college boosters, Politics/lobbyists, the music industry particularly the gangster rap era in early 90s - present.

We see Stack at the end smelling sammy and saying he smells death on his body...I interpreted that as him referring to sammys health but also to Blues music and the death of a time when music about our experience and upliftment for our people, a time when our culture was extremely insular and not overly commodified and watered down for consumption and bloodsucking from the dominant society. It would be a commentary on how the vampiric element aint always the outsiders....sometimes it be your own people exploiting and corrupting.

It also would be interesting to see a version set in more contemporary times and a departure from the 1920s-1930s which we would get in a prequel.

Michael B. Jordan Did the Impossible

In an era of mounting crises, the Sinners star got people off their couches and into cinemas for an original film.

I think the actors did a helluva job. But for me, it was the storytelling by far.

You can get great acting and a shitty story, and it won't do those type of numbers. But when you pair great acting with a great story... you have caught lightning in the bottle.
