UPDATE: Donald Trump Takes Office as the 47th US President

The Senate is going to have to either stop this bill or make changes to it because this is gonna really wreck everything for the next year and a half. If this bill fully goes through the Republicans could kiss the house. Goodbye. Trump is going to kill a lot of white people like he did his first term also because they are going to close down hospitals and nursing
Do you think the Republicans are going to do what?

What we have to wait and see is if Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is gonna put on the cape and play “Captain Save-A-Bill” like he did back in March.

He has been very quiet if anyone has noticed…

If this summer doesn’t eclipse 2020, then whatever happens in September is irrelevant. Project 2025 has warned it’s going to be a bloodless revolution unless democrats start complaining.

A lot of that kicks in in 2029. Just in time to blame the other side.

The political inertia was already gamed out. Most people just don’t care.

Did you see the Knicks choke last night? Voters will rather worry about the Phillies making the World Series than ensuring the poor are taken care of. The rich know the poor very well.

No soon as 2026 kick in the Democrats if they take over to the Change stuff immediately

The issue is the Democrats need to gain more than 2 seats in the Senate to get it over 50 seats.

If they did manage to win 4 seats, like clockwork, 2 Democrats will come out of left field to be the new “Manchin/Sinema” and keep anything from getting done.

Senator Fetterman (D-PA) with his mental issues is currently getting groomed by the GOP to be on their side.

So the Democrats are gonna need to win over 5 seats in the Senate to try to get 51 certified votes in the Senate. If it’s 50/50 VP Vance is the tie-breaker.

The Democrats should easily win the House in 2026….but they were supposed to easily win it in 2024.

We have to wait and see…

Here's the whole bill. https://rules.house.gov/bill/119/hr-ORH-one-big-beautiful-bill-act I'd suggest uploading the docs to AI to comb through it.

Example:

Based on the sources provided, the bill, referred to as the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act", contains several provisions related to Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Key provisions regarding AI found in the bill include:

  1. Department of Commerce AI and Information Technology Modernization Initiative:
    • The bill appropriates $500,000,000 to the Department of Commerce for fiscal year 2025.
    • These funds are to remain available until September 30, 2035, although one source notes the end date as September 30, 2034.
    • The purpose of this appropriation is to modernize and secure Federal information technology systems through the deployment of commercial artificial intelligence, automation technologies, and the replacement of antiquated business systems.
    • The Secretary of Commerce is directed to use these funds specifically to:
      • Replace or modernize legacy business systems with state-of-the-art commercial artificial intelligence systems and automated decision systems within the Department of Commerce.
      • Facilitate the adoption of artificial intelligence models that increase operational efficiency and service delivery within the Department of Commerce.
      • Improve the cybersecurity posture of Federal information technology systems through modernized architecture, automated threat detection, and integrated artificial intelligence solutions.
    • The rationale provided for this investment is the outdated nature of federal IT systems and the need for modernization in the face of global competition, particularly from China in AI.
  2. Moratorium on State and Local AI Regulation:
    • The bill includes a 10-year moratorium on state and local regulation of AI.
    • Beginning on the date of enactment, no State or political subdivision thereof may enforce any law or regulation limiting, restricting, or otherwise regulating artificial intelligence models, artificial intelligence systems, or automated decision systems. Some sources add that this applies to systems "entered into interstate commerce".
    • The reported rationale for this moratorium is to prevent premature or overly restrictive laws and a patchwork of state-by-state regulations that could stifle technological progress, particularly for startups and small businesses, create barriers to entry, increase compliance burdens, and result in fewer innovations and higher costs for federal agencies seeking to acquire AI.
    • However, the moratorium is subject to exceptions. Enforcement of certain laws or regulations is still permitted if:
      • Their primary purpose and effect is to remove legal impediments to, or facilitate the deployment or operation of, an AI model, system, or automated decision system.
      • Their primary purpose and effect is to streamline licensing, permitting, routing, zoning, procurement, or reporting procedures that facilitate the adoption of these systems.
      • They do not impose substantive requirements (such as on design, performance, data-handling, documentation, civil liability, taxation, or fees) unless the requirement is imposed under Federal law, or, if under a generally applicable law, is imposed in the same manner on comparable non-AI systems.
      • They do not impose a fee or bond unless it is reasonable and cost-based and the AI systems are treated in the same manner as other comparable systems.
      • Any provision whose violation carries a criminal penalty is not prohibited.
    • Definitions are provided for "artificial intelligence," "artificial intelligence model," "artificial intelligence system," and "automated decision system" within this section.
    • Criticism is raised against this moratorium, describing it as "an unprecedented giveaway to big tech" and a "blank check for big tech" that would leave the world's most powerful technology unchecked for a decade. It is argued that this provision is unrelated to the Commerce Department IT modernization efforts in the same section. Critics state it would prevent enforcement of state laws designed to protect consumers from harms like privacy violations, financial fraud, election interference, algorithmic bias in housing and credit, harmful facial recognition use, and risks to mental and physical safety. It is argued that Congress should learn from state efforts and enact federal laws rather than blocking state action. An amendment to strike this moratorium provision was offered but defeated.
  3. Use of AI for Medicare Improper Payments:
    • The bill includes a provision (Section 112204) specifically for Implementing artificial intelligence tools for purposes of reducing and recouping improper payments under Medicare.
    • The Secretary of Health and Human Services is required to implement artificial intelligence tools determined appropriate for reducing improper payments made under Medicare Parts A and B and identifying any such improper payments. This implementation is to occur no later than January 1, 2027.
    • The Secretary shall seek to contract with a vendor of artificial intelligence tools and with data scientists for this purpose.
    • The Secretary is required to recoup payments identified using these AI tools, to the extent practicable.
    • A report to Congress is required annually, starting January 1, 2029, detailing the implementation of the AI tools and the recoupment of improper payments.
    • $25 million is provided for the Secretary of Health and Human Services to carry out this provision. The stated reason for this provision is that new technologies like AI can assist in identifying and reducing Medicare improper payments and improve programmatic integrity, noting that identified improper Medicare payments comprise roughly $50 billion every year.

In summary, the bill proposes utilizing AI within the Department of Commerce for IT modernization and cybersecurity, explicitly includes a broad 10-year moratorium on state and local AI regulation with specific exceptions, defines various AI-related terms, and mandates the use of AI by the Department of Health and Human Services to combat improper Medicare payments. The state and local moratorium has faced criticism as being harmful and unrelated to the Commerce Department's IT modernization efforts.

“This administration is holding Harvard accountable for fostering violence, antisemitism, and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus,” said Secretary Noem. “It is a privilege, not a right, for universities to enroll foreign students and benefit from their higher tuition payments to help pad their multibillion-dollar endowments. Harvard had plenty of opportunity to do the right thing. It refused. They have lost their Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification as a result of their failure to adhere to the law. Let this serve as a warning to all universities and academic institutions across the country.”

Supreme Court insulates Federal Reserve while backing Trump firing of agency leaders

  • The Supreme Court strongly suggested that Federal Reserve board members would have greater protection against being fired by a president.
  • The ruling for now allows President Donald Trump to fire Gwynne Wilcox from the National Labor Relations Board, and Cathy Harris, from the Merit Systems Protection Board.
