This kind of review is what happens when you see a movie and don't know jack shit about the culture and don't understand the subtext of the movie.

As a nurse, there are 2 ways to approach your skills. You can do it by the book or you can approach it as a person with 2 decades of experience. This film is a film textbook on how to film the Black/African experience from the American point of view. The scene where the Asian lady walks about 40 miles to cross the street is how you show the work it takes to make that journey. I remember hearing stories of families making the trek from Mt. Airy, Philadelphia back to North Philadelphia which made it seem folks were trying to cross Mordor with a ring.Just came back from seeing it in 4DX. Solid film, 8-8.5/10. It's not a film that I would be hype to watch again or care to rush out and show someone, but it was a good film. A few stupid moves to me by some of the characters and times where it felt like they wouldn't realistically have the time to waste doing what they're doing during chaos, but again, an overall good film worth the money to watch. Just not a blow your mind, take you on an emotional rollercoaster, or epic action kinda film, where it would've probably garnered more points for me if it was one of the 3.
I appreciate all of the things depicted and ties to our history in the film, and the cinematography was top tier. Still doesn't make it a 10 out of 10 or a movie that I would enthusiastically sit through a 2nd time, which again I'm saying the movie is good but just a one watch for me. There are movies that I would watch over again over it in general; Avengers Endgame, The RAID, Talk to me, Woman King, and some others. Although the movie touches on important experiences, at the end of the day it's an action film and there are more entertaining ones out there to me.As a nurse, there are 2 ways to approach your skills. Crazy thing is, without that I think they sit and try to just hold out, and as you know have they done that they would have died anyway because of what happened in the morningImagine if he proposed the idea that UFOs were originally black and seeded life on Earth, with everything going awry due to white mutation entering the gene pool?
I loved and hated that scene.
Like bitch what are you doing?! But then it was followed by beautiful, bloody, nonstop action!
That part. I can catch a lot of it, but there's some of it I didn't get.Excellent movie Brother Coogler.....Bravo
I wonder if his Uncle was a share cropper considering I am around his age and my folks all were when they were younger....
Now I just need a trusted source to do a breakdown of all the symbolisms in the movie...
Based just off this tweet, I think he's saying he wish we had more from Coogs. Don't think(hope) there was anything malicious behind it. I don't care for Bill simmons(love reading his work but his voice annoys me and he hates Interstellar; can't rock with you after that) but I think his point is that he wish we had more.Nah...Bill, he doing it right.
You make 'content" you wouldn't understand
Yall want to see him slip.
Coogler takes his time finds his passion and then pursues it without limitations
That's how ART is done
Bill took damn near a decade to do his Celtics doc ain't nobody was rushing you.
Stfu eat some popcorn make some reckless bets record another podcast and watch the black king work, Billy.
The bold part is the key to your view of the movie, I think. I haven't heard anyone else describe this as an action movie. There is definitely some action in it, in the second half or final third of the movie, but I would by no means call this an "action movie".I appreciate all of the things depicted and ties to our history in the film, and the cinematography was top tier. If you wanna talk about films that speak to our plight/history that I rate higher, there are also many others out there that I'd watch over and over again; Sarafina!, The hate u give, Hidden Figures, and more that for me just has more replay value. My view is subjective at the end of the day, Sinners gets a solid 8-8.5 outta 10 for me. I feel like everyone should see it and support it.

There is a difference between a movie and a film, to me. Sinners is a film. A movie is like Snapple Iced Tea while a film is a cold glass of agua. The bold part is the key to your view of the movie, I think. I haven't heard anyone else describe this as an action movie. The story got me dying. Dude said he was in Doug Christie house sleep on a couch when Doug Christie walked in and he was in there like Goldilocks scared as hell lol
I love interviews where the interviewee is guard down just being regular. Seeing famous people don't really get me. I'm like, whatever.
Seeing famous people who got their guard down just acting like regular us people, that's what I like seeing
