Movie News: Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan - SINNERS - jim crow era vampire flick (SPOILERS OPEN!!!)

I always support Coogler. Cinematography was Oscar worthy. The blues was placed spot on in the mix of the spirit of the movie. The southern Asian folks was done very well.

Coogler must be a serious historian to have written them into his script. The Robert Johnson angle was DOPE. The title of the movie was Sinners, and got damn there was some diabolical shit going on in this movie from start to finish. Stay all the way through the credits.

DEFINITELY go SEE this in a large format theater. The wide aspect ratio and colors are worth the price of admission. Even a 83" home screen won't do this justice. Some films needs a big screen to be felt. 7/10

No spoilers, but kill every last one, should be the motto in every Black movie :thumbsup:

The one shot of our music through time is the greatest piece of film ever recorded in human history. I saw it and thought about Paul Robeson and his views on music and the liberation of all of Earth’s inhabitants. Having listened to the Black Studies Podcast with Charles Asanasopuplous earlier in the day, the film just made sense.

Oddly this was the only part of the movie that was just okay to me. He stretched, and I appreciate that Coogler was trying to educate and bind history. I just felt that it could have been juuust a bit tighter.

Can you imagine if a conscious asian filmmaker wanted to pursue the historical connection between Africa and Asia and test the 5,000 years Theory?

The Good Colored Folks in Mt. Bayou was dope to me. Shit, after the trial of the negro teen that was killed in the Barn, all those Mississippi folks moved to Chicago anyway.

Yes, that part is true filmmaking, almost something you would see in a play that you don't often see in movies. It reminded me of the first couple seasons of The sopranos, very much play-like/theater esque as it were. The musical part was perfection

When I took drama/theater in school, there was a "vampire" in the group And he would shake hands as we all would but the vampire if he shook your hand and used his index finger to scratch your wrist during the handshake, You became a vampire too.

We were trying to see how many people could be infected by the vampire before someone could realize there was an enemy amongst us, and how many

Do you mean he was too inclusive in his genre expanding then contracting musical moment? I can understand his motivations as I'm sure you can. You sound like a very knowledgeable film guy.

One of the downsides of this anonymity-based model we have here on BGOL Is we probably got some deeply tied professionals on here, but will never know it.

How could he have done this better?

Is the embargo still in place? I can't help but think about the women in the movie. But I don't care for non-black women so I'm good.

I don't get your meaning of the embargo? Wunmi Mosaku is absolutely stunning with her chocolate ass and those big ass titties, and the slim goodie chocolate chick was good too

Hailee Steinfeld is like 15% black or some shit but not my type of chick and the Asian chick was meh. I'm trying to see how what you posted relates to what I posted

This is the interview that aired today on the Sherri Shepherd show. It all starts at 9:45 seconds to get past the Sherry Shepherd talking BS intro

The white woman was invited in and the Asian woman invited everyone in.

I think the Asian woman inviting everyone in was a, "Bring it on motherfuckers" type of making a stand because "we're not going to cower in here all night waiting, and hoping not to die. You want my blood, come get it."

And it's good they didn't cower in there all night hoping not to die because they wouldn't have survived the morning (see, no spoilers)

It was irrational and silly. After it was revealed she liked her coochie lapped up, she lost her damn mind.

Imagine if he proposed the idea that UFOs were originally black and seeded life on Earth, with everything going awry due to white mutation entering the gene pool?

I loved and hated that scene.
Like bitch what are you doing?! But then it was followed by beautiful, bloody, nonstop action!

Just came back from seeing it in 4DX. Solid film, 8-8.5/10. It's not a film that I would be hype to watch again or care to rush out and show someone, but it was a good film. A few stupid moves to me by some of the characters and times where it felt like they wouldn't realistically have the time to waste doing what they're doing during chaos, but again, an overall good film worth the money to watch. Just not a blow your mind, take you on an emotional rollercoaster, or epic action kinda film, where it would've probably garnered more points for me if it was one of the 3.

Very good movie for the fellas, dealt a lot with code and brotherly love and sacrifice.

go see in movies, FELLAS!!!!!

Btw 19 year old Miles actually can sing and play instruments and grew up in the church! A lot of things were subliminal in this one, while overt at the same time.
