Trump had the worst polling of either of his terms on the economy the last two weeks. So what does he do? He and members of his cabinet come out and pick a fight with Dens and the media over this Garcia case. Hell. he brings the President of El Salvador to the White House to trigger Dems and the media.
And Dems and the media fell right into the trap. Everyone on the left are going nuts all talking about Garcia 24/7. You got members of the senate going to El Salvador.
You know what no one on the left is talking about? Trump's weakness on the economy or his falling poll numbers.
He played the shit out of the Dems. He always gets them to fight on terms and topics he knows he will beat them on. And the Dems fall for it every time. Trump throws more chum in the water - "yeah I would like to send our homegrown criminals there too"
Dems lost their minds.
How about we wait and see on that, but in the meantime, let's hammer Trump on the economy. Republicans would NEVER allow a Dem president to have that bad of polling on the economy and not talk about it every day. Hell, it's what they did to Biden.

China has halted all imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States for more than ten weeks
According to the Financial Times, shipping data revealed that no LNG shipments have taken place between the two nations since a 69,000-tonne tanker from Corpus Christi, Texas, arrived in China’s Fujian province on 6 February.
A second vessel destined for China was redirected to Bangladesh after it failed to arrive before Beijing imposed a 15 per cent tariff on US LNG on 10 February.
The tariff has now been raised to 49 per cent, effectively pricing US gas out of the Chinese market.
The current freeze on US LNG mirrors a similar halt during United States President Donald Trump’s first term, which lasted over a year.
The renewed blockade could have lasting effects, particularly as it pushes China to deepen its energy ties with Russia and casts uncertainty over the future of major LNG infrastructure developments in the US and Mexico.
“There will be long-term consequences,” said Anne-Sophie Corbeau, a gas specialist at Columbia University’s Centre on Global Energy Policy.
“I do not think Chinese LNG importers will ever contract any new US LNG.”
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China significantly reduced its LNG imports from the US.
Chinese firms opted instead to resell US LNG cargoes to Europe, capitalising on higher prices there. In 2024, only six per cent of China’s LNG came from the US, down from 11 per cent in 2021.
Despite the slowdown, Chinese energy giants such as PetroChina and Sinopec remain bound by 13 long-term contracts with US LNG suppliers, some extending as far as 2049.
These agreements were instrumental in launching massive LNG projects in the US, though developers are now seeking to revise terms due to inflation and added costs from US tariffs.
Gillian Boccara, an analyst at Kpler, noted a bleak short-term outlook for renewed LNG trade between the countries.

“The last time this happened, there was a complete hiatus until the Chinese authorities granted waivers to companies, but that was at a time when gas demand was booming,” she said.
“Now we are looking at lower economic growth, and we think the Chinese can withstand the loss of these cargoes for quite a long time.”
As US LNG becomes increasingly inaccessible, China appears to be turning towards Russia for its future supply.
“I know for sure that there are a lot of buyers. So many buyers are asking the embassy to help establish contacts with Russian suppliers; I think there will definitely be more (imports),” said Zhang Hanhui, China’s ambassador to Russia.
Russia now ranks as China’s third-largest LNG supplier after Australia and Qatar. The two countries are also advancing negotiations on the proposed Power of Siberia 2 pipeline, which would further cement their energy relationship.
“With tariffs rising to the level where they are an effective embargo, we will see a reshuffling of trade flows,” said Richard Bronze at Energy Aspects.
“We also expect Asia demand to fall by 5-10mn tonnes as a whole. That should bring gas prices down a bit in Europe,” he added.

Dems have weak/no leadership right now. This is why you see Pres. Obama stepping up in recent weeks. Biden just gave a speech last week. GOP has been riding with Trump and Trump only for the last 10 years. They were going through the wilderness during Obama's presidency. I see AOC starting campaign and introduce herself to the entire nation. I think she's going for the senate to get Schumer out of here. Just saw where Hogg is going to set aside money to go after incumbent. Dems will come out better for this but they need to move quickly.
I do think the illegal detainment and exile of people from the country is a more serious issue, but you do have a point that the common person that Dems need to reach is not worried about this issue. Unfortunately, they just don't care whether the people currently being rounded up are being detained legally or not. They want non-whites gone, and don't care how that gets done.
Although ironically, because that's just about hate/intolerance, I don't think they care about the economy either. So while you could move the needle some by focusing on it, most of them will probably just keep making excuses to support their bigotry (which is the only thing they really want to reinforce).
You're not going to sway Trump voters, but you could get some of the 15 million voters that voted for Biden but then sat this election out to get off the couch and vote. That's what you need to win.

I think they need to get younger for sure. And they definitely need some leadership. But if they don't change strategy and start appealing to non political people and get real content creators that don't bash dems all the time, we're going to be in the same struggle.

my only response to that is dems should be able to do two things at the same time. Hammer trump on his handling of the economy while highlighting his dictator leanings that includes fuck ups like failing to adhere to due process. And while trump is the king of trolling...his trolling is more like testing boundaries to see what he can get away with. Remember this fucker denied knowing anything about project 2025 and is now checking every single box on that list like clock work. So is he serious about Canada, Greenland and deporting American citizens? PROBABLY.

I dont disagree with this, but they should be able to do both. Trump is doing what he did before, overwhelming everyone and normalizing chaos so that people are paralyzed and unable to respond or so desensitized they don't feel a need to. They can say he's crashing the economy and disappearing people here legally in the same sentence. It needs to be addressed tho. Garcia is just the test run for the rest of us.
