Hopefully this will be the end result and we end this shit quick and fast

No chance. At least half of these countries will be responding in kind or just abandoning us to trade with other nations. We have significantly cooked our trade relations with basically everyone all at once.

And it's not like Trump is going to apologize or anything. Doubling down is his signature move, so I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't assigned "penalty tariffs" to some random country by the weekend.

This Trump dude is crazy I think slot of these dudes just eat Americans to be very frugal and if we sled way less then we import way less and it hurts others countries economy. I think that's really trumps plan to force Americans to think differently. In the long run it hurts a lot of other countries which is essentially leading to a recession.

Despite the rhetoric from politicians and the media, studies have repeatedly shown tariffs are an effective tool for achieving economic and strategic objectives — just as they did in President Trump’s first term.

  • A 2023 report by the U.S. International Trade Commission — which analyzed the effects of President Trump’s Section 232 and 301 tariffs on more than $300 billion of U.S. imports — found the tariffs reduced imports from China, effectively stimulated more U.S. production of the affected goods, and had very minor effects on downstream prices.
Looks at Report :

"Consistent with the explanatory statement’s direction, the report estimates the effects of section 232tariffs on the U.S. steel and aluminum industries and downstream industries that intensively consumesteel and aluminum and the effects of section 301 tariffs on industries in the United States that producethe products subject to section 301 tariffs. Because of the breadth of section 301 duties and the oneyear timeframe for its completion, the report does not include estimated effects of section 301 tariffs ondownstream industries that consume products subject to section 301 tariffs. It also does not examineupstream industries or service industries that support the steel and aluminum industries. The estimatesconcern effects on trade, production, and prices. The report does not estimate the tariffs’ effects onother factors, including investment, their contribution to the national security, or intellectual propertyprotection concerns that led to the tariffs’ imposition, for example. Because this analysis is not forwardlooking, it focuses on short-term effects during 2018–21 and does not address long-term effects. Thereport is not an assessment of the complete, economy-wide impacts of the tariffs under sections 232and 301 and cannot be used to draw broad conclusions about whether the tariffs under sections 232and 301 produced a net benefit for the U.S. economy overall. The analysis in this report is, by design, notintended to address those questions." :roflmao:

He's literally followed this logic....

"The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930 raised U.S. import duties with the goal of protecting American farmers and businesses from foreign competition. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act is now widely blamed for worsening the severity of the Great Depression in the U.S. and around the world."

Negative Effects

What were three negative effects of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act?

The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, enacted in 1930, had several negative consequences, including triggering a global trade war, exacerbating the Great Depression, and damaging international relations.
