Why do black people think white people speak properly????
For the life of me I can't figure out that shit.
I don't see why. It's real simple.
We've had this conversation before kayanation. I don't see what the problem is.
Words, definitions and their pronunciation are defined by dictionaries.
The dictionaries are compilations by the people who created the language.
This is true of all languages (English, Japanese, Spanish, etc.)
Words already have set meanings, definitions and pronunciations for that particular language. You can't just make up your own as you see fit and have it be considered the standard.
Then when someone says that they are sounding white they take it as a compliment............
It is not a compliment. It is referring to you forcing yourself to assimilate to the DICTION of a white person.
Wrong it's a compliment. Especially considering that it usually comes from a black person who can't talk correctly, who's trying to insult you.
Coming from that type of person, it's ALWAYS a compliment.
And YES, it's usually some black person. You're never going to have a white person come up to you and say you speak like a white person. No usually that bullshit comes from black people who are envious of the fact you can form complete sentences and pronounce words correctly.
What it sounds like to me is that you insulted someone,
and they refused to take your insult as an insult but instead took it as compliment and now you're mad about it.
Since when did "like" after every two words become correct?????
That has nothing to do with whether words are being spoken properly or not. It is an unconscious learned behavior. I know people who use the word "uhm" before every sentence, it doesn't mean that they are speaking incorrectly.
Just because Funkmaster Flex, uses "know what I mean" after every other sentence does not mean he's talking incorrectly.
When people say a person is talking correctly, they are usually referring to how you pronounce words and sentences.
I have travelled to many cities over the years and I KNOW that a lot of white people DO NOT speak properly.
No you do not.
First of all, as racist as you are, I refuse to believe you KNOW a lot of white people.
Second of all, most white people would not be able to get along in their own society if they did not speak properly.
Why do black people feel that white people speak properly?????
Because most of them do.
So much so that they have white people feeling that they do!
No white people know if they are speaking their own language correctly. This is the reason white people get on rednecks and country bumpkins so hard. Because they have a tendency to destroy the language when they talk.
See? Even amongst white people they know when proper english is being spoken or not.
As far as I see it you can speak properly without a "white" diction and be fine.
False. White diction, as you call it, is the basis of how the language is to be pronounced. This is like going to Japan and saying that you can speak proper Japanese without pronouncing the words like them. It's their language and they created it, therefore they not you get to decide what the correct pronunciation is.
Patel, Prakash and Singh do fine with their indian dialect.
No. What you are talking about now is accent. They have foreign accents
Their are Indians who speak english perfectly (form sentences using correct grammar, and speak words properly), they just have an accent.
And then there are other Indians who break up sentences, and turn phrases around. Plus they have and accent. You can still understand what they are saying, but you would never say they were speaking proper english.
As far as I see it, the pressure to assimilate crosses good common sense in our own people.
And this is the reason black people can't succeed.
There are those of us who want to learn how to talk and form sentences correctly.
And then there are those who want to make up their own words and definitions and then stand around wondering why they can't get hired anywhere.
Most times the person discriminating against a black sounding name in HR is black himself/herself.
Ok now see, discriminating against a just because they have a black sounding name is evil and wrong.
However not hiring someone because they can't speak and represent themselves well is good.
If you want a job working for me, you better be able speak properly.
I simply cannot have you working for me if you talk like Lil John.
