I mostly agree with the stance, but I stopped separating them from the rest of the market awhile ago. Honestly, most of crypto doesn't have a real purpose. Most of the tokens aren't even needed except the creators use them as a way to fund the projects. Even something like XRP is questionable given Ripple is creating a stable coin that may accomplish the same overall goal.
You have to be more careful with memes, but some have a true community and aren't just pump and dumps. Snek is a good example so far. Along with the community its a top performer on ADA without being on a major exchange. Of course my advice to anyone who is new to crypto is to stick with BTC and other very select established altcoins.

You have to first identify what blockchain the token you wanna get is on
This on is Solana's blockchain.
So, you must BUY Solana on a CEX (Centralized Exchange) Like Coinbase, Kraken...etc
Then send it to your DEX wallet. For Solana tokens I advise getting "Phantom Wallet" from the app store.
For Ethereum tokens go get Metamask.
Once you have Solana in your wallet I suggest you go to Raydium.com and connect your wallet to the site
Plug the address of the token you want and plug in how much Solana you want to spend.
It'll tell you how many tokens you will get for that amount of Solana
So in essence you are SWAPPING Solana for the token of your choice.

I've actually been in the game for a minute but I never moved past the trading on the main exchanges Coinbase, Kraken, Bitstamp etc....I never ventured off into the weeds of these other exchanges and altcoins. I feel like i need to though, because it seems like that's where the biggest gains are being made
