I'm a lover of linguistics and etymology. But you are correct, ignorance is bliss (generally, not calling you ignorant).

But also that's how language changes over time.

Postal has an etymological definition, and the new-age use of the word sickens me. If I hear another person using this phrase, then my response will happily oblige according to their misuse of the word by me putting my foot up their ass." Haha.

I often read or hear “I could care less.” It’s COULDN’T care less!” Professionals do it more than you assume. I have to correct this shit in reports and keynote addresses and I get crazy pushback.

A coworker always writes “back at it again”. I remind him that, in casual situations, it’s fine, but in our setting it’s redundant. “Back at it” your point is made. Saying “again” compounds it. The most adverse affect from my work is my inability to turn off my human autocorrect. At thanksgiving my nieces and sister all overly used the word LIKE and it drove me crazy. lol. A woman on my team will open with “Okay, so, like, here’s our plan going forward..” and I remind her to simply say “Our plan is to…” streamline, eliminate, etc..”. Get to the point!

Another from work is “if I’m being truthfully honest…” Redundant! Honesty IS being truthful.

“For me, myself, personally, I….” Same thing 4 times. Simply write or say “I..” “Well, for Me, myself, personally..”. Simply say “I…” Word salad forces me to tune you out after hearing what I need. At conferences I correct them and they hate it. LOL. “That’s just how I say it!” Well, stop.

Lawyer demand you say ONLY what’s needed, with few words—preferably, ONE.

Everything after the word “you” is compounding or redundant. “We’ve never met.” Done.
