Taking Control of the Black Image

We all recognise that we need to take back control of our image.

We once had pride in who we are and defended our ability to achieve greatness and contribute in the world like anyone else under less tehn perfect circumstance.

however these gains are being lost with the young generation being fed SOLELY on entertainment & sports as the only legitimate avenue out of poverty.

Our struggle to reclaim sense of self is a collective responsibility. From the father next door, the mother babysitting the neighbors kids, from the college graduate to the barber shop.

A big part of ambition in kids is the belief that they can be what they dream.
However if they never know what they could become?????

So to make this short here is a list of media outlets that we can direct our complaints.

there are less gay members in gay advocacy groups than black people who are concerned and they get it done.

So let's get it done............

Recently, I was at a small cafe (black-owned) and they had a Sunday brunch. Two of the featured artist were patrons I see at this place sometimes (both in their 70's), and I had no idea that they were premiere Jazz performers and both extremely well educated. It was a pleasure to see them perform and hear their stories. All this to say it's a big difference to sit in the presence of everyday black folks that came from a generation where you had to be EXCELLENT and articulate and no less was expected of you no matter what your talent or profession.

I would love for us to be able to get back to that.

Why are you trying to place blame on the media when "blacks" are putting themselves in the spotlight for scrutiny. We are so quick to call FOX racist for giving more coverage to the Michael Vick case as opposed to the Chris Benoit story when the fact that he committed a crime remains. We are upset over television programming on B.E.T. that portray us in a negative light when the people on the opposite side of the cameras are black. The hell with writing FOX and all these other media outlets.

You need to get organized and start policing the black people in your communities you all feel so strongly about this. As long as folks have bills to pay ain't nobody trying to turn down anything. If black people wanna change their image in the media, then they have to stop watching the shows that portray them in a negative light. The problem is that alot of the 18 to 32 year old that the viacom and these other media companies cater to, don't really care about the black image and keep watching these shows. The guys at the top in the media company see the ratings, think that this is what black folks want, and they keep on putting it on the airwaves.

If things are gonna change, black folks are gonna have to change up, cause Mr. Goldstein, or whoever's in charge of programming ain't gonna do it. The thing is that most black people are comfortable with their media image, and see nothing about it that needs improvment.

My schooling taught me that the slaves burnt down plantations, ran away, killed massa etc..... until we became free.

It based on acknowledging that sacrifices need to be made even in the face of death.

but in my case it's not about de-programming, it is about reality. They have been peddling this image of what Black is since the scramble of Africa by using nefarious methods into fooling our ancestors and people around the world into making them believe that blacks are sub human, lazy, and savages.


This campaign has been raging strong for hundreds of years with tremendous success unfortunately and the people behind it have the experiance/ know how and revenue to further perpetuate their agenda. They have done a successfull job in seperating us and making up bicker among ourselves with a large portion of us absolutely blind to what is infront of us. Our image along with many other ethnicities are being manipulated falsely through the media on purpose, and the people doing it are some of the most powerful people on the globe.

It's quite obvious that there is a Monopoly on the media and on what we see. By now you should of realized who in all likelyhood the main culprets are.

The people you want to change our image are the same people who basically control everything we see. And we all know what the eye see's can be misleading.....


I would like to change our image to but realize the people/organizations who are controlling and manipulating our image are the same people who run the world from behind the scenes, economoically and politically.

And these same three letter organizitions are covertly putting drugs into our community to fund their black budget projects and in doing so keeping us inslaved. So now we're fighting a war from two fronts.....the corrupt media and the corruption of the federal government.

We just can't send in complaints to bottom feeders, we have to cut the head of the snake that has several heads to choose from.


On another note, I am not convinced enough blacks are even aware of the magnitude in which our image is poorly portrayed. Some from even personal experiance are deef, blind, and dumb to the methods in which are used to keep us shackled mentally. I like idea Osirian had about creating our own station but how long will it take before it is bought out by Disney or some other white owned organization??????


In order for this to work we have to be united in the effort, and I don't believe at this time the black community as a whole is even aware of the subtle onslaught we're under at this present time. The change or our image will be because of an all out revolution on our part, not by sending in complaints to ESPN and Faux News.

If black men and women are brave enough to join the army and go to war with the possibility of dying then why is it so difficult to sacrifice for the greater good?

No, the weaker companies were bought out by giants, if anything the target is stronger because they have complete control over what we see and can manipulate peoples opinions more effectively without variety being available.

There is no single banner that black Americans can stand behind such as a foreign country or nationality.

The only equalizer is skin color and the many hardships that stem from it, and for many that fluctuates.

Blacks in America are much too diverse in every aspect to have an identity movement at this point in time.

While some sit and worry about the image of blacks as a whole , others will be more concerned about self-image in spite of what exists in the media.

Recently, I was at a small cafe (black-owned) and they had a Sunday brunch. Two of the featured artist were patrons I see at this place sometimes (both in their 70's), and I had no idea that they were premiere Jazz performers and both extremely well educated. It was a pleasure to see them perform and hear their stories. All this to say it's a big difference to sit in the presence of everyday black folks that came from a generation where you had to be EXCELLENT and articulate and no less was expected of you no matter what your talent or profession.

I would love for us to be able to get back to that.
