Felt bad for first buddy. Still, from his story he got convinced to steal some shit before it ended up free in a few days. Still stealing.
I learned through a rough experience of my own when making decisions, act like you would if you knew it would end up on the news. It's what kept me from the PPP or SBA loan scams in covid.

I heard on one of those shows the detective said that the guys think if they agree to talk to the detectives it will make their life more believable, you notice most of the suspects say something like "ok I'll talk I don't have anything to hide", "I know I didn't kill anybody"
