Kendrick Lamar disses Drake & J Cole on Metro Boomin & Futures Album/ Rick Ross Responds/ Kanye Responds/Kendrick Responds 4X / Drake Responds 3X

Well Mr Morale had too many records on it; if he cut like 4 to 5 records off; I thought it would have been a classic; and I don’t think it was gonna be a major roll out because that was his last album on tde; and it felt like that…
It was but it was also his first album on PGlang….we didn’t drop enough visuals….i mean it’s how some of these artists drop now Cole does it too. I don’t agree with it but maybe it’s for financial reasons.

Morale felt like a combination of all his other albums on tde; kinda like I’m done! And I think kdot was about to go missing after the tour to deal with family shit; but then Drake and Cole had to open their mouths…

Yeah I mean someone could not like Drake, but all these artists aren't doing songs with him for nothing. He gives them juice from his audience. Kendrick definitely benefits from this beef more than Drake does.

It's something people say about Tupac and Biggie beef too. Pac was the more known rapper, but Biggie definitely benefited historically from the beef since he always gets brought up with Pac's name. This is what is happening now with Kendrick.

Toronto does have a sound, but does the world accept it? The talk there is that you got to get over in USA or UK first before the city even accepts you. By crossing over you do the sound that gets radio play or accepted by the audiences there.

Dancehall artists have the same issue as people are still waiting on Shenseea to crossover big. I still don't see why she doesn't rap more because she would definitely stand out. I guess the issue would be her having ghostwriters(if she can't do this below all the time off the head or turn it into songs) and being an easy target if she ever got in a rap battle.

Fair enough. I appreciate you putting me on. But that begs the question, why isn't the biggest artist from Toronto pushing the sound of Toronto instead of sounding like Houslantadon?

Ahhh

That is why there have been artists who have taken shots at Drake in the city. I will tell you something that Saukrates who was signed to Warner Music and connected to Redman stated that the labels at the time did not want another BeatlesMania situation happening where USA's top artist were from another country. They didn't want that money flowing outside elsewhere like how it did in the 60s.
Saukrates was and is a talented artist that Drake even looks up to and some in the city said that is partly Drake's inspiration with doing both singing and rapping. Here is Saukrates singing on a collab with Redman and Method Man.

When Drake started out it was a big deal for him to do a song with Saukrates.

During this time Kardi was a big deal and had that Toronto sound that some in the city didn't even like either. Drake and Kardi fell out because Drake was cool with another rapper that Kardi was beefing with and he dissed him on the song he did the collab with. I can't even find the song online now.

So this is why I said what I said about the tribal/regional aspect of hip hop. Drake learned from how the labels treated Kardi and Saukrates and how they viewed each in terms of push. Then a new breed of artists came and yeah even in Toronto some were saying Drake was jumping on waves.

Robin Banks was the hot new rapper that Drake gave what they call in Toronto the Drake stimulus package.

When Meek Mill was beefing with Drake, he would reach out to these rappers to try to make it seem like Drake was not doing enough to expose other rappers in his city in fear of competition.

Then Drake would counter when he heard that Meek was also going to reach out to Pressa. Robin Banks went on tour right around when Drake was popping over in the UK.

Drake ended up taking Pressa on tour in the UK as a counter.

This is why I said above Drake has always played chess with his rap moves and if he does think he can counter Kendrick he will do it even if everyone thinks he shouldn't. He has been doing this all the time in different regions.

However some in the city wonder why Drake deliberately signs artists to OVO that don't have a wave like these above back a few years ago. He has only really given Smiley a feature who he signed, but Smiley does not do the underground numbers or get attention like others from the city. That is why some go at Drake at times.

However, it goes back to what I said above on how Drake learned from Choclair, Maestro, Michie, Saukrates, and Kardi's failed runs to get over in America and UK. The Dream Warriors were the real crossover stars back then in the UK though.

Fantastic breakdown fam. Much appreciated.

I can absolutely say Drake plays chess. He definitely divided Phily during that Meek battle when he shouted out AR-Ab. Ab took the bait doing interviews about how happy it made him and Meek got in his feels about it. Unfortunately, it ended up playing out in the streets as affiliates from both Meek's Dream Chasers and Ab's OBH/Goonie Gang got shot and/or killed.

Seems like he was trying to do the same with LA when he shouted out YG and Chris Brown in this beef, but LA didn't take the bait.

Now you get Drake's thought process in making moves during beef. I think Drake tried to play the Pac and Snoop angle with AI to make some question Kendrick's association to LA in comparison to what Snoop and Pac did in terms of impact culturally. Drake knowing he had pop culture went that route, but I do think he underestimated Kendrick especially with how Akademiks was running his Twitter account with the daily count of Kendrick not responding. He clearly was staying silent for a reason.

I think this is stupid honestly, shows how low people grab to be entertained, white folks will make 98% of the money off two black dudes fighting, some TV exective will have a show with a half breed trying to fit in to black culture and getting rejected soon.

Roland Martin will keep splannin, symbolic gestures of trash, politicans will do nothing but sing and dance and give hope.

Other groups will buy gas stations, resturants and slowly push us out and we're done.

GOP/DEM won't stop immigration and we're hurt the most by it

Niggas will blame black women for the issues, repeat for black women blaming black men

We're fucked...

These takes are hilarious because I see some that say all these people backing Kendrick are ignoring the domestic violence claims lol. This rap beef is next level because of social media. Drake had the upperhand with Meek Mill and some of what this guy is saying is what Kendrick did with Not Like Us, but it is still innuendo.

Here's another post as if Drake really is not black :smh:

It seems something else at play as I agree with Ebro that Drake is kind of getting jumped. Drake must be sitting back wondering what will happen this week.

See how it turned into metrics
These well actually ass fans
Nobody quoting no BARS
Where the BARS at

Yeah...thats the shit I hate...casual ass fans talking about sales, airplay and other additional shit instead of the bars, the strategy, impact etc.

Kudos to both of these cats.....I was listening to Sway in the morning yesterday and they were just marvelling at how talented, creative, and ingenious they both are...I tuned in just as they finished listening to "heart pt. 6" and Sway was like...jesus that dude can rap...both of these dudes are top tier elite level emcees....different styles but imagine if we could take all this intelligence, strategy and skill and channel it into something positive..

Who? Kendrick? Yall bugging lol……
Crazy how so many people hate "To Pimp a butterfly" but to me that's one of the only Classic albums in the past decade or two.

But then I'm rooted firmly in blackness and the recognition that Hip Hip has its roots as an extension of the black nationalist movement...plus I love jazz, spike lee movies, concept rap, black conciousness, Neo-soul and Kendrick gave me all of that in that album.

It's ok if it's not ppl taste I totally get it so I never argued ppl need to like it

It's discounting the skill that's the problem
