correct

the same one that sold 1.7 million for Good Kid Mad City in 2012

and only sold 177,000 for Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers in 2022
Yeah people stopped buying albums and started streaming songs more by 2022.

Mr. Morale 1,127 billion audio-on-demand streams 2022

What Kendrick Lamar album has the most streams?

Mr. Morale was confirmed in August to have become the first rap LP to surpass one billion streams, so this latest doesn't come as much of a surprise. Along with breaking records, the Compton rapper reigned supreme with eight GRAMMY nominations for Mr. Morale.Jan 4, 2023

I seen that on wiki….they must’ve forgot to update it because he sold 239k his first week of Morale and Big Stepperss…was certified platinum.

I see what they did…some Drake fan must’ve edited the wiki….he sold 177k physical releases….which is high in 2024….probably one of the highest…

I know Drake's favorite artist is Tupac, but people really trying to say they are the same because of the acting background sound silly. However, people were also calling Tupac a rapist despite him dropping music like this for the people.

We eventually heard what the real thing that went down that night of the incident. See now I will stop giving ammo that I think why Kendrick could have gone with. Not going to do their homework lol.

Drake with all his women songs has never gave the people music like this. As for Drake not being African American in his defense people are forgetting who his dad is?

He got play in America because his father is from Memphis(who once performed with Jerry Lewis) and he would bring Drake down there in summers as a youth.

This is why the lies these two are going with I don't understand when there is material to counter each other with some of the things said Meet The Grahams and so on.

the metrics are the metrics

i realize and fully expected people to say people don't buy albums anymore

but all you have to do is look at other popular artist and they are still in the millions per release using the same metrics

.......again I'm not a drake fan

but I'm not going to sit here and act like kendrick was as popular as he was when he first dropped.

he is definitely benefiting from this beef in a big way.

even people on this board was saying kdot been getting to weird with his shit.

Drake absolutely doesn't have a sound that belongs to him. I've said for the longest that Drake could've been a wave but decided to surf everyone else's waves instead. Toronto, unfortunately, doesn't have a sound, and they could because they've had talented rappers since the days of Choclair being on the DJ Clue mixtapes. LA has a sound. ATL has one. Philly has one. NY has one. The Bay, Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Miami, London all have sounds. And Drake just samples them all.

what's funny is that good kid mad city still has more total streams that his 2022 Mr. Morale

Bro I don’t think you get it. Kendrick is the highest selling artist in the game when you don’t factor in streams lol. His last album sold 177k pure album sales. I can’t find anyone sniffing that. Drake last album did 13k pure album sales….that was by Jan I can’t find what it’s done now but it’s safe to say it’s nowhere near 177k.

Yeah I mean someone could not like Drake, but all these artists aren't doing songs with him for nothing. He gives them juice from his audience. Kendrick definitely benefits from this beef more than Drake does.

It's something people say about Tupac and Biggie beef too. Pac was the more known rapper, but Biggie definitely benefited historically from the beef since he always gets brought up with Pac's name. This is what is happening now with Kendrick.

Toronto does have a sound, but does the world accept it? The talk there is that you got to get over in USA or UK first before the city even accepts you. By crossing over you do the sound that gets radio play or accepted by the audiences there.

Dancehall artists have the same issue as people are still waiting on Shenseea to crossover big. I still don't see why she doesn't rap more because she would definitely stand out. I guess the issue would be her having ghostwriters(if she can't do this below all the time off the head or turn it into songs) and being an easy target if she ever got in a rap battle.

exactly my point

Those numbers are for the first week sales for Mr Morale sir..
It’s not 1st week. First week he sold 239k….he posted pure album sales. No streams included. Which no one posts lol…but it’s worth nothing that 177k he did in pure album sales from what I can tell is more than any other artist probably except Taylor.

exactly my point
My point is hip hop is regional to the point where down south and up north even disagree on the style or skills despite both doing the same artform. An outsider has it even tougher, but Drake broke the code. Even in Los Angeles he did music with the likes of The Game.

Kdot out sells every hip hop artist but Drake! So yea I’m not sure his angle or what he’s trying to prove. And DAMN actually outsold Drake that year

Right. Yeah Damn was a monster. His last album to me could’ve had a better roll out it was like it sold strictly off word of mouth.

i didn't mention Drake..i said kdot is benefiting in popularity from the beef

Well Mr Morale had too many records on it; if he cut like 4 to 5 records off; I thought it would have been a classic; and I don’t think it was gonna be a major roll out because that was his last album on tde; and it felt like that…
