We have to put this into context.
Under their old agreement and league rules they did sweat their salary and fought for better conditions. As they should have because not too long ago they was making no money. And they rules was such that even if they got a second job they could be penalized for it (which is bullshit).
The new league structure is much more beneficial to the players. Higher Salaries and more benefits. Plus they advocate for them to seek endorsement deals.
Yes the new deal did help boost the salaries and conditions. And that was a bs rule to penalize players for having a second job of playing basketball overseas.
What was really fucked up was team organizations placed individual salary caps on players. And that number was $50,000.
So Kristi Toliver played for the Mystics and was paid a WNBA salary of $40,000. She then went to become an assistant coach with the Wizards (same organization) and was only paid $10,000. At minimum NBA assistants make $100k. She was severely underpaid because of the bullshit rules.
