Agreed, but all the mark bookers like TK would have preferred to just hurry up and give Cody the belt with no thought out plan on what to do next.
It made sense to give Cody the belt but they had some plan with what to do next with The Bloodline and Roman needed to be champion for it to happen. Quite frankly it was better than what was likely to happen with Cody as champion.

Whether Cody wins or not we'll see then us "WWE marks" can ponder whether we like it or not and whether his title run is any good as well.

Here's my (unpopular) opinions about the rumble and what happens moving forward:

1) They are obviously putting the belt on Cody Rhodes, although I'm not personally a fan of the goody two shoes all American white boi gimmick, he's on the cover of their new video game, and the fanboys who had a hissy fit about him losing last year weren't going to shut up unless WWE "righted that wrong" in their opinion. I think it would be hilarious if Roman retained again, storyline wise, not sure what else there is to do with him and the belt at this point...he doesn't technically need it I guess now that he's broken the 1K threshold

2) Damian Priest is in danger of losing all of that MitB momentum he had built up, all of his cash ins have been thwarted for dumb reasons and he really has no main feud going on, they are building up this Rollins and CM Punk thing on Raw and obviously he wasn't going to cash in on Roman, so what now? The Judgement Day is becoming a joke group with all the R Truth stuff and Rhea has displaced him as the defacto leader. If he doesn't successfully cash in on Corny Rhodes after WM, that would be a huge miss and he would go down the almost can do it but not quite mid card route that Drew McIntyre is on now

3) the belt Seth Rollins has is dumb and his reign is highly forgettable, I'm not even sure what his character is supposed to be, his wife is called The Man, what is he? A fashionista with a song the crowd chants to? Imo Shushinske should have beaten him at least once in their feud to make the reign somewhat credible as this everyman's belt they are selling it as. Corny Rhodes has been on Raw this whole time and not once cared one iota about challenging Rollins for the so called World Heavyweight belt, I guess that don't count towards finishing his little story...

4) Solo has done jackshit since murdering Cena last year, they made him look like an unstoppable Umaga type clone, but all he does is wear hoods and pulls refs outta Roman matches. They basically turned him and Jimmy into Bebop and Rocksteady to Roman's Shredder with Heyman looking overseeing the operation as Krang. I'm sure he will eventually turn on Roman before WM so that they can give Corny Rhodes an easier path to the belt, but he's mostly doing nothing

5) why do they call Jey Uso, Main Event Uso when he hasn't won a single thing as a solo act away from the Bloodline? His entrance and the crowd reaction is the best thing about him at this point, you gotta have him win a singles title at some point I believe

6) CM Punk is obviously going to feud with Rhodes, but I see him winning EC so they can set up him main eventing night 1 of WM against Rollins

7) Gunther's IC title reign is losing steam now that he's broken Honky Tonk's record, his feuds have been mid going against people with no chance of beating him like Miz, Gable, and now Kofi Kingston.

8) Sami Zayn is overrated, at least in the Bloodline he had a storyline with some purpose, now he's just out there running around like what Russell Westbrook said about Pat Beverly

9) Jade Cargill... wow, props. I think she will feud with Nia Jax before they setup the Bianca thing, they will wait a year or 2 before they come back to that because WWE loves to tease things and slow play every single interesting angle now

10) what happens to Roman if he loses at WM? I think he'll still show up every now and again and keep something going on with remnants of the Bloodline angle, but not sure who his next feud would be with
Great takes. I agree with pretty much everything you said. Spot on.

So Solo is essentially cloning Umaga. For all of his dominance Umaga always lost the big match. Did he even have a Cena type dominant win on his resume?

As for Sami he's been injured for the last month or so and since losing the tag belt he's been spinning his heels kind of like every other mid carder in the company from Jey on. Their main eventers are pretty much set and the top of the roster added CM Punk and Randy Orton. Them along with them keeping Drew in the mix and Damien Priest on the outskirts since he has the MITB is going to keep Sami from elevating. And quite frankly he and Kevin Owens reign as tag champs was lackluster.

I think R-Truth is doing his own stuff. I can't imagine anyone else writing this stuff. LOL
And even if someone else is writing it you still need to have the timing and delivery to pull it off and he does so perfectly.

That stadium is a dump (it's where they had the "Thunderdome" during the pandemic with no fans) and a lot of times with stadiums (especially older ones) the acoustics are bad and it's hard to properly mic.
The audience often plays a big part in how a show comes off and yeah, it just felt flat the whole night.
Pat McAfee was also getting annoying through the show on commentary.
I think Brock was supposed to return last night but they likely axed that after the news that broke during the week.
That's what I was getting at....regardless of if he's doing it himself or not you still gotta do it its all him really I was just curious why their other comedy shit doesn't hit as often as his stuff does if its all the same writer lol.

I've heard others speak on the acoustics of that stadium. Teh reactions didn't match the noise so yeah very well could've been. Shit can kill a show.

R-Truth for the Judgement Day is what Sami was for The Bloodline. The pop R-Truth is getting is insane. Shoot he could bring back “Little Jimmy” gimmick and it would go over better than before. Instead I would make it “Little Damian” (Judgement Day version)

R-Truth is finally getting his shine. I’m just happy for him after all the years he’s been in the game.

Lolz Ryback gonna be happy calling him Fragile Phil!

Dude is injury prone at this point in his career. His body can't take it anymore. If I'm WWE I would seriously evaluate how I use him going forward . You may need to only have him wrestling on ppvs and that's it.

Yikes. Between Seth and now Punk, hell maybe the title will end up on Gunther at Mania. He just gotta lay low and not get hurt. WWE is going to have to call an audible

Out of all the shit that can go wrong during a DDT, a blown tricep wasn't on my bingo card
If I remember right Drew McIntyre tore his bicep taking Andrade's DDT in NXT. The ropes were involved in that move as well.
Ultimately father time is undefeated and Punk's body isn't holding up like it used to.

Man you hit the nail on the head in most of this man...if its unpopular shit you on it.

Only thing i'll say is I like Cody Rhodes. I mean I like to root against him lol. I like the good two shoes who I can boo lol. He's the new Cena and Hogan except he can actually wrestle. But this why I disagreed with whoever said he should've got the title last year....not at all. He doesn't need the title to be main event and I wouldn't even give him the title this year. Let the build up take some time. Nothing wrong with that. Plus its other guys you can put that tile on.

Yeah I never cared for Sami but the Bloodline stuff was gold and made him a main eventer. Might've bailed out on that one too fast.....I saw that coming though. They have absolutely nothing to do with Jey Uso.

I'm with you on Drew signing his extension but I think Punk's injury is legit.
He used his injured arm to throw a punch/forearm blow at Drew…. The minute I saw that I questioned the injury.

Perhaps he hurt his arm, but I have my doubts it’s as bad as they are letting on. Could be a way to keep him out of the ring on Monday nights, on a part time schedule as a lead up to Mania.

One of the main reasons why he left AEW was so he could return to the WWE and win the World Championship and do something his father never did. That's his motivation and focus hence "finishing the story". This isn't just about him main eventing.

Let the build up take some time. Nothing wrong with that.

The build up has taken long enough. He's pretty much the top babyface in the company. Crown his ass.

I still don't see him beating Roman at WM. Lose again then win at SS. He doesn't need to finish the story at WM.
