Mos Def on Drake: “It’s……‘mall’……music”

This is why I don't understand the term "hating" anymore. He was asked a question. It wasn't like he just offered up an opinion. Like niggas was talking about Criminal Minds and Mos found a way to bring up his distaste for Drake's music. Was he supposed to lie or give a PR ass answer? Don't we all hate when people do that?

You raise a good point I don't have answer but I got an opinion because this is a decade old debate on here...

I believe it was when the internet made being a troll, hot takes and a bullsh*t contrarian, acceptable behavior on and off line.

So now we don't really trust expert opinions or ANY opinions anymore. ANY and all criticism is categorized as hating.

Yasiin is an undisputed legend his words hold weight. He can say whatever he wants especially about hip hop.

Doesn't mean he is RIGHT. Or doesn't have an agenda or really is just hating.

But that man track record overall in hip hop gives him weight.

It's his honest expert opinion and I completely understand why anyone would say hate because he don't usually talk like that outside the booth.

Just played through Black On Both Sides a couple days ago. Mos Def classics are timeless.

Pop Rap..let's see if these youngins will spin a Whole* drake record when they 20 years older

#metoo

Damn that album has aged perfectly.

People are called haters and are "Hating" because of Drake's success.

Based off of the message from Drake it appears that they have history. And Mos was talking his shit back to Drake so it's fair game.
Drake definitely has haters, as anyone who's super successful. But I do think we have to ask ourselves do we want people's genuine opinion on things or if we want PC PR answers. If it's the former we gotta get better at labeling everything "hating."

Niggas love talking shit about Drake but don't wanna talk about this croonin nigga who made fun of Ja's style then stole it :roflmao:

And I like Fif so it's no hate

Sidebar...

So the fact so called diehard fans still refuse to call him by Yasiin...

Ain't they hating on his name change?

No we don't want or expect artists genuine opinion when being interviewed because it'll be nothing but artists shitting on each other.

I know the difference between hating and an honest opinion.

But if 10's of millions of people have liked his music, made him one of the most popular artists ever.

Are we to believe that those 10's millions of people that he makes good music or the few who have nothing positive to say?

Niggas like...

Yup

And if he critiqued all his defenders in this thread that kept calling him Mos?

They would all turn on him in a minute

If he APOLOGIZED heaven forbid to Drake?

They would kill him too.

This is all a rancid toxic slop of fuckery.

It’s cool to trash Drake because he’s light skinned and Canadian . It’s the in thing , the thing to do. But guess what he gives niggas opportunities
Drake definitely agrees with that last part except you have to remove the a and add the er to the n word. The David Sterling of rap be like I gave those n words cars and clothes for ghostwriting my stuff

I guess I'm be the first one today it.

Ain't nobody in the hood riding around bumping Mos Def.

And Mos don't bust his gun

Nobody riding around blasting Black Thought but it doesn't mean he's not elite at what he does and have the right to his opinion, especially when asked (we keep leaving out how Mos was ASKED his thoughts). Record sales and singles success are important but they don't make your opinion more or less valid. If that's the case Vanilla Ice should speak and Kool G Rap should never voice his opinion if asked.
