TV SHOWS / SERIES - Seen any good ones lately? Please feel free to post reviews / feedback / trailers / articles / TV news / all that shit ...

Thoughts?

1. Scheduling/Availability of Actors. It came out during the strikes that majority of these actors ain’t getting paid jack shit, especially ones who are starring in top tier shows. This is causing actors to get other gigs like TV commercial’s, stage acting and paid appearances in country/international. So trying to get everyone together, especially for group scenes is difficult.

2. Production costs delay putting out content. These studios set up an annual budget for content, so it restricts them on how much they can put out each year. They got the money to do everything, but these studios are corporations who always looking to cut and maintain expenses to increase profits.

3. Spreading out content puts a delay on releases. Paramount has a number of top rank shows. So for example no way is Paramount gonna release a Star Trek series and a Yellowstone series at the same time cuz they don’t want to pull viewers from one show onto another causing viewership to be low on one of them. They also don’t want hit series from two separate studios debuting at the same time doing the same thing. They want maximum eyeballs looking at their content and nobody else.

In the end, studios are only concerned about themselves and their self interest, they don’t give two Fucks about their audience.

A Murder at the End of the World
2023

6/10

This limited series debuted last month on Hulu and I decided to wait until all the episodes debuted before watching it. I watched an episode a day and finished it up this afternoon at home. I only watched it cuz it’s a limited series, so there will not be a 2nd season. I’m hesitant nowadays getting into new series with these studios making the decision to cancel the series before Episode one even debuts without telling the audience until after the season finale.

It’s basically a murder mystery with some twists. If you suffer from TV ADHD, you may have some issues with it, especially with the first 20 minutes of Episode one which will have you scratching your head wondering if you are watching the right show. This part is a flashback character development of the main character and it plays out thru-out the series, it is connected to the main story.

At the 20 minute mark of Episode 1, the series gets going into the main story. It’s a somewhat slow burn series but begins to pick up the pace with the flashback/main storyline coming as one in Episode 5.

The ending is ok, nothing spectacular but does the job to end the series.

Synopsis

"A Murder at the End of the World" is a mystery series with a new kind of detective at the helm -- a Gen Z amateur sleuth and tech-savvy hacker named Darby Hart. In the new limited series, Darby and eight other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire to participate in a retreat at a remote and dazzling location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must put to use all of her combined skills to prove it was in fact murder, all against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.

Homecoming
2018 - Present

7/10

This is another series that came out that Sam Esmail has stated is connected to the “Mr. Robot” universe.

I wrapped it up last night. Right now 2 seasons are out. Season 1 has 10 episodes and Season 2 has 7. Each episode is about 30 minutes so it’s easy to quickly binge.

Season 1 has Julia Robots as the main character. How her character plays out might be connected to her character in Leave the World Behind. In LTWB, Julia Roberts characters statement in the opening scene somewhat connects to how her character ends in this series, they possibly are connected in a parallel universe which the movie Comet brought up, just a theory for now.

Season 2 has Janelle Monáe as the main character.

The series somewhat gives you a different perspective of Mr. Robot. I could not spot any direct connections to Sam Esmail’s other projects. The closest thing I could spot was how the characters slowly become aware of what is happening in each episode. This was a common theme in Mr. Robot and Leave The World behind.

I also didn’t spot any reference to E-Corp and if it had any connection to the corporation Geist. I suspect we may start seeing some connection to the other Sam Esmail projects in future seasons. I’m also suspecting Elliot’s father might make a cameo in a flashback episode in future seasons going by what has played out so far in this series.

It’s a interesting series, if you are into Conspiracy content, you will enjoy it.

Synopsis

A caseworker at a facility that helps soldiers transition back to civilian life leaves to start a new life, living with her mother and working as a small-town waitress.

Thanks I slept on this series.

What If? Season 2 episodes 1 to 3

Episode 1 definitely had a noir and Blade Runner feel. Cool to see an alternate version of The Guardians of the Galaxy

Episode 2

I know the artists were trying to get the Kurt Russell look down but he looked more like Jim Morrison from The Doors
This was still a great Episode displaying a different version of the Avengers and Peter Quills destiny

Episode 3 was more of a slapstick comedy and nod to Die Hard

This country is not going to recover. These idiots believing that Biden did something criminal while watching the Trump International Crime Clan commit egregious crimes in plain view is wild.

Watched the latter half of season 3 of Upload in recent days.

I had checked out the first 3 eps back in late-October, and circled back to the show over the weekend.

Enjoyed season 3 more than season 2.

I like the show best when the writing is quick and clever. There's some subtle jokes you'll miss if you're distracted or multi-tasking (i.e. - Shawn Carter General Hospital; a product line from Scott Disick, etc). I don't care as much for the dramatic plot or storylines, as I'm more into it for the sci-fi / fantasy comedy elements. I recognized some of the general Vancouver-based shooting locations, and can always appreciate Andy Allo as "Nora" ... nice thickness.

Definitely going to check it out in the new year. I enjoyed season 1 of the podcast and tv series respectively. See where they take season 2 with a new story and cast. Season 1 had Joshua Jackson, Christian Slater, and Alec Baldwin.

Catfish the Series

I havent watched this show in years but i was curious about how and why people are still being catfished in the year 2023
Ok someone starts hitting your DMs you hit it off, but you never meet and the ghosting thing happens.
I still dont understand why a person doesnt say let's video chat ,send me a pic thats not on social media . I think people just want to be gullible,FANTASIZE ABOUT SOMEONE HAVING GREAT INTEREST IN THEM or want time on TV.
It's also funny how the host's and the C or D list list celeb acts as if they are clueless about things that are common knowledge

Agreed.

I’ve caught bits and pieces of the show over the years. It’s at its best when they unravel the layers of deception at play from certain catfish. Then wonder what exactly was the end goal or endgame at play, especially if it was NOT financial gain. People running long cons on assorted people from various accounts which easily takes up ample time per week.

The victim left puzzled like wtf? Good luck to you in life - go get help.

The catfish acting all hostile and avoidant to mask their shame and embarassment, etc.
