Regardless of who Dr. Johnson is or isn't, the person who wrote that article is an imbecile. I'm not reading anything else he writes. His writing kills my brain cells.
Dr. Johnson's biggest problem is his ego. To the extent that he will lie to maintain his ego intact. I don't care or listen to Umar when he says I am this or that. I personally believe he wanted to build the school, but went about it the wrong way. Building a school requires thorough planning, qualified staff, and proper funding. Umar's attitude was "give me your money because it's me". Instead, he should have put together a business plan and a qualified staff to handle the construction and management of the school before asking for money. His ego said "fuck that, pay me".
He never got the funding he asked for to build the school. If I were him, I wouldn't have felt obligated to build it. But again his ego got it in the way. He's more worried about what people are saying of him. No funding + not qualified to do it = disaster. His arrogance is what keeps this disaster going.

The school is built and totally remodeled. The people that say there isn't a school or where's the money going are fucking idiots. Hell he's shown every step from when the school was an abandoned piece of shit to now.
But....as a teacher of almost 20 years it will fail. Schools needs millions to operate successfully and he doesn't generate that kind of income from speaking and donations.
Plus people are more invested in seeing him fail than helping the kids he wants to start with.

Not taking a side and honestly don't have a clue on how schools work. Is there a reason he couldn't raise money going the charter school route or attempt to get a loan to fund the school initially? If he raised 400k and can provide a business plan, he could start small and build over time. Obviously, it's more more complex than I'm making it and it's more than getting a building, but it would show people that he is serious and would encourage more people to invest/donation.
Maybe this has already happened and I clearly don't care enough about Dr.Umar to care, but why not start with an after school program or summer camp. Again, the idea being gaining the trust of the community by showing your work and having success stories. Even an adult program would be a good start and could probably find people willing to volunteer their time to reduce cost. Again, I don't know anything about what he's done on this front and I'm only hearing the stories of the school never being built.
If anyone knows, what has he done with the raised 400k? Is he holding it with the thought of raising more funds?
