Discussion: FARGO on FX @10pm Update: Season 5 w/ John Hamm

I had to put this series on hold cuz I had too much shit to watch.

It’s gonna be some time for new content to come out now that the Hollywood strikes are over.

Gonna try to catch up on the series by year end.

Season 5 Premieres this Tuesday. All seasons are up on Hulu where I will watch them.

Let us know what you think.

Really enjoyable anthology series.

Interesting how they jump around in timelines for the seasons. I.E. - season 1 is based in 2006 - 2007 / season 2 - 1979 / season 3 - 2010 - 2011 / season 4 - 1950 - 51 / season 5 - 2019.

Season 2 was a standout season. Really enjoyed the plotlines and characters. Great cast.

I am still very surprised people REALLY HATED season 4...

I thought it was good.

Agreed.

I enjoyed the large number of characters in season 4. Kept you on your toes as a viewer with the amount of personalities.

Just looking at the Wikipedia now ... Loy Cannon, the Fadda brothers, Ethelrida as the teenaged narrator, Constant Calamita, Rabbi Milligan, Deafy, Swanee Capps, Doctor Senator, Nurse Mayflower, etc. And that's just a portion of the people involved.

Season 1

Started the season yesterday and finished this morning.

It had the same flow as “Breaking Bad” with the lead character Lester getting deeper and deeper in his dirt and finding a way out of it.

The Malvo character played by Billy Bob Thornton stole the season.

And there is a lot of well known actor’s scattered thru-out in supporting roles. A number of them had not hit it big when this series debuted.

Gonna try to get season 2 knocked out by weeks end.

Right on. Glad you’re into.

Season 2 is great.

Really looking forward to hearing what you think of it too in the days ahead as well.

I plan on rewatching season 2 next year.

I know it’s a anthology series where every season has different stories/characters.

Are all the seasons revolving around the city of Fargo?

Or is there something that connects the different seasons together?

Don’t go into too much detail if it results in a spoiler.

If I remember correctly it’s different settings. Fargo ... Minnesota ... Chicago, etc.

There’s a slight bit of overlap as you’ll see in season 2 with the Solverson family.

Also, some of the paranormal stuff. I.E. - people speculating about Lorne Malvo in season 1? Was that really a guy, or merely a force of evil who got away with alot often one step ahead of everyone else?

You’ll see a very brief and interesting origin story in season 4 too. Once you realize it, it will put a smile on your face thinking back to once you have wrapped up season 2. Really enjoyed that.

Season 2

Just finished this season this afternoon.

It played out well with the action/suspense even though it was somewhat predictable on how the married couple would end up. I was hoping the crazy wife would have went down instead of her husband.

Hazee played out well and I liked seeing his character develop from the start to end.

Plenty of guest cameos of well known actors and good casting for all the actors.

The UFO subplot was humorous and didn’t take away from the story.

Gonna try to get seasons 3 - 4 knocked out by mid-December before getting into season 5 which is 2 episodes into the season.

Looking forward to it.

Mike Milligan and Hanzee Dent ... 2 of my fave tv characters of the past 10 years.

What I’m liking about the seasons is how they end.

It’s pretty predictable on who is not gonna make it. But some of the survivors their endings are interesting.

Milligan standing in that little office could lead to a spin-off series if done right. Hanzee is like a wildcard with how they left his character off.

Agreed. It leaves you with something to think about.

My dad said the Milligan storyline reminded him a bit of the end of the tv series, The Shield.
