I agree that it's unlikely that a religious war breaks out in the US in the same way.
People may be talking about a division in the country in general. Some of these groups claim to act in name of religion, morality or how things use to be. Trump's reign proves something like this is possible with the right people in place. In modern times, none of us thought we'd see the president led a riot to maintain power. Some of this people were hiding behind religion as an excuse. We know the truth, but even outside of whites there are minorities who believe the religion lie including some Black people.
As far as how they pull this off. You don't need to bomb a city. You allow shit like water issues like in Detroit.
Even if you are speaking about direct combat, coons exist and the reality is some people would rather be on what they believe to be the winning team. When the slaves rebelled, there were slaves who worked with whites for privileges or outright fear.
Your discussion seems to focus purely on religion, so while possible I overall agree with the idea of a religious war breaking out as highly unlikely. In my opinion, on average people in the US aren't super religious or that deep into their beliefs. I honestly believe people in general only say they are religious or have some form of faith, is because it's still highly frowned upon to say you aren't religious on some level. And from what I understand it's not just a war of religion as much as a fight over land. Black people could feel a way about stolen land, but the main group from that viewpoint would be Native Americans. Respectfully, unless they recently got access to alien technology, the US has nothing to fear.
