The NBA has the best basketball players in the world. People all countries are invited to play in the NBA and usually only the best make it. There's other variables but they're the best in the world.

Since the best basketball players in the world all play under the umbrella that's the NBA. The champion of that league is declared the world's best.

Boxers fight people from different countries, as do MMA fighters. They can be ranked worldly because they fight internationally.

Your second point is not historically true. Arvydas Sabonis was a top center in the world playing overseas, while the NBA still proclaimed its title winner world champion. Hell, are you claiming Victor Wembanyama wasn't good enough to make an NBA roster while teams were tanking to acquire him this year?

They're being obtuse with their arguments. Playing a game of semantics. They can't name other league's champions that would have a chance against the Nuggets because the team doesn't exist. Their only argument is to take an amalgam of players from around the world & pick the best 12 to have a chance. And even then, they'd most likely get smoked.

Comparing soccer to any US team sport is like comparing apples to oranges. The world's best athletes play soccer because it's easy to practice & it's all they have. If the best athletes the US had to offer learned to play soccer, no other country would win a damn thing. Our best chooses to play football, baseball & basketball. That's where the money is. Not kicking a ball back & forth for 90 minutes.

Because they were too young or not ready to enter the NBA. Wembysma a 19 old kid was MVP of the French league….he probably won’t even make the All Star team this season in the NBA

Because the colleges have players who have NOT reached their potential, have upside and are young. I international teams have vets and grown men. ALL top international teams would slaughter NCAA teams. Half of NBA teams are the same level as top international teams. Equal. STILL NBA champ is USA professional league champ. NOT World Champ.
