A search is underway for missing submarine that takes people to see Titanic..

I worked on this site and drilled the first oil well there. The currents at the surface down to 800 meters are crazy. We would launch the ROV and by the time we got to working depth, we would be 300 meters away from our launch points. Launch and recovery were the worst I've ever experienced and the support boat couldn't even launch. The one time they did launch, they broke their tether and I had to work with the rig to hook up the subsea crane to lift it.

If they find these guys, getting them to the surface would be fast if they have the length of cable. A drillship could do it with a drill pipe with a hook and sling attached to the end, but it's a slower process running pipe.
Wouldn't bringing them up too fast also be an issue? Don't they need to be brought up at a certain pace to properly depressurize and avoid the crew getting the bends?

I'm mad they using my tax dollars to look for these fools. These chuckleheads are billionaires and millionaires. Let their families finance the search. Or at least send them a bill for the expenses
They will get the bill just like when your home alarm gives a false alarm the police send you the bill.

:yes:

Like I mentioned before, the pressure inside should be 1atm. Just like an airplane is. If a window breaks on a plane, the pressure variation can pull you out. The glass breaks on the sub, they go from 1 atmosphere to standing on Jupiter. :roflmao:

@LordSinister

If we had a nuclear submarine in the area could they get the sub in that depressurized area? Or would that not work because they may not be able to open the failed sub?

I didn't know that Titanic guy James Camaron(sp) has done that dive many times. He even went down to that one trench which is way deeper than the titanic
Had they gone there instead(in order to try and "break his record" :rolleyes: ) he'd be telling them to call off the search after 30 minutes..

That is something I don't know. I also don't think our subs go that deep
100% they can go that deep. The depth limits are classified though.
Think about it. A private cheap little submersible can go that deep but not a 3.4 Billion Dollar Nuclear Sub?
There are no windows on a U.S. Military sub though, it uses only sonar to see. It's not meant to retrieve objects
