I live in NJ. We have power outages. Most of the time 5 minutes a month. A few hours like twice a year. 2-3 years ago the power was off for 4 days. So, power generation is a must.I don't understand why anyone would be interested in this after running the numbers. That dude said the system would cost $320 a month for 20 years! Who the fuck uses that much power in their house?!? As soon as I heard that the conversation is over.
Interesting. I had no idea New Jersey had those kind of power issues.I live in NJ. We have power outages. Most of the time 5 minutes a month. A few hours like twice a year. 2-3 years ago the power was off for 4 days. So, power generation is a must.
So, the equation becomes generator where you have the initial cost then maintenance. Or do I get solar and powerwalls where there is a greater cost but I’m chipping into that cost everyday?
We could’ve gotten a generac generator. Let’s say it was $20k. Cool. $20 k I’m done.
I ordered my powerwalls 2-3 years ago that were finally installed today. Cost me $15k. Now it would be more like $22-25k. However, even if my solar and powerwalls only save me $2-6 per day or $1-2k per year, how long before I make that money back. How many months with no electric bill? Does a generator do that? Of course not.
It’s kind of like my law practice. I may not win in the end but I had to give myself a chance to win. I don’t see a chance of winning with a generator.

The Tesla app shows us all of the power loss events and their duration. From January 2022 to the present, there have been 18 backup power events for a total of 10 hours. The longest was 3 hours. Most of the time, it appears to be maintenance on an almost monthly basis for 5 minutes.Interesting. I had no idea New Jersey had those kind of power issues.
SubbedSeeing how the powerwalls were fully installed today, I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'm expecting to have a surplus of electricity from mid-March through mid-October.
sexy af & she knows itDamn, she's fine.
my aunt & uncle in Jacksonville decided against gettin solar panels and got a backup generator installed instead.
it cost them $12k,....i saw it put in action last week when they had a storm. power went off on their whole neighborhood, and it kicked in 3 seconds after the power went out.
The generator is powered by both gas and battery.
I would have kicked that muthafucka right in the gut on my porch talkin that bullshitI don't understand why anyone would be interested in this after running the numbers.
