What we are seeing in this thread is one of the reasons I decided to step off of ADOS as a follower of it and just observe and to be honest, it is becoming worrisome that this shit may start to spill off the internet and turn violent. Tariq is a shit stirrer and a shit starter, having spent his adult life, over 30 years in Los Angeles, I tend to wonder what kinda bullshit he kicked up out there in his younger days.

I will say this till the end, I do think that native-born Black people in America are unique amongst all groups here and are in need of a specific political agenda to address those needs and that is what brought me to ADOS. I was never interested in Tariq's FBA bullshit and in 2020, I stated on this forum that FBA never "caught on" and that FBA was the Sega Master System to ADOS's NES (which looking back is an insult to the SMS).

Before Tariq (and honestly Yvette too) any issue I had (speaking for myself) with immigrants was directed more toward Hispanic immigrants. African and Caribbean immigrants were not on my radar and I don't say that to be disrespectful, it's just that the immigrant issue always identified itself as a Latino problem and yes the condescending, finger-wagging immigrant trope is very much a real deal but I think the response to it might be over blown by typical internet overthinking and probably is dealt with differently in real-time and in real life.

He's doing harm to his audience tho. He is just like Trump, in fact worse because I expect someone who has studied history to know better. He's riling up his base, making them angry, and giving them a target they can reach (immigrants), but not giving them the info and tools they need to affect change (voting, government literacy, a focus to make reparations happen).

The GOP and Trump did the same thing. He had white folks mad at immigrants and black folks, with hate crimes increasing against both, instead of directing them to businesses exploiting and not paying fair wages, and politicians making laws that benefit the rich instead of them. The tea party and white racists couldn't get to Obama, but they could get to and beat or shoot the black guy walking down the street. They had an outlet for their anger, for a short time.

Everyone gets to feel powerful for a bit, they have someone they can feel superior to, but at the end of the day nothing changes and they are left stewing in their hate and mad at the world.

Tariq has enough influence amongst people to organize strategic voting to get the attention of politicians. Instead he tells folks not to vote, or hold their vote. When you don't show up 1) politicians won't court you, they assume you don't participate and 2) it allows other groups who are showing up like hispanics/Latinos fill the power vacuum we leave and gain more influence.

In the end he's not helping things to change, he's not giving tools or even giving factual info on how government works.His followers think Biden or the dems can give reparations with out votes from the GOP. They dont happen without action from the government he is telling them not to participate in.

They will say black voters got civil rights and other groups got reparations without voting, but there were enough votes to make it happen. There isnt now, even if all dems in office and Biden were for it. They don't want to lobby the GOP. They don't want to elect more dems because they are "holding their vote" until they get what they want. So they don't want to get the GOP on board or get enough dems to pass an agenda. They think money Biden can send to the Ukraine comes from the same pot that is used for other parts of govt. Its a circle of inaction and frustration. In the end, everyone will just be bitter and mad and still not be any closer to getting what they want, and may be farther away if dems lose seats and have to rebuild ranks instead of maintaining power.

He's as bad as Charlamange, not willing to tell his audience the GOP is blocking student loans, because he doesn't want to be seen as siding with dems. So at the end of the day folks are mad, yet not voting out the people making their life harder and blocking their goals.



The GOP thinks black folks only vote for dems for handouts. They are sick enough to get a supermajority, pass laws linking reparations with CRT and saying it's illegal, because they deny racism. By the time the laws are litigated through the courts, years would pass. Do not put anything past them. When they get in power, they always make it harder for dems to get elected and pass an agenda.

I was listening to the sista Yvette Carnell on the radio the other day and it seemed like she had a clear, reasonable pragmatic plan for getting reparations for Foundational Black Americans. they should be a powerful lobbying group making things happen for foundational black americans but have been damaged by all these grifters and clowns using them as a vehicle for their own personal gain.
