For the same reason racists do it, to "other" people and emphasize differences rather than what we have in common. It's just tribalism. Many Black Americans have felt they've been disrespected by immigrants, white, Black, and Asian ones, and they're not completely wrong in that feeling. I can't change how a man feels regarding others within the diaspora, but I can take it as an opportunity to learn and examine why he feels the way he and others do. Especially given the history of some Africans who have disrespected the position and history of Native Afro-Americans while elevating themselves economically through/from their struggle. FBA's desire to separate its identity from others is the collateral fallout from this unfortunate and ugly history.

There is nothing wrong with separating the lineage or advocating for reparations for fba/ados/doas, but how does denigrating other black people's forward this goal? Why are we getting screeds against Africans, targeting of individuals and whole groups instead of receipts for how he is moving forward and meeting this goal to get reparations? I'm not taking about a meeting or a march twice a year. Where are his proposals and analysis from experts? Where are the meetings, letter writing campaigns, lobbying? Where is the intellectual part? What is he doing besides riling his supporters to attack others?
The FACT is, Tariq will NEVER be taken seriously by the people who count. Can you a see a distinguished professor or politician wanting to partner with him with all the hateful rhetoric? Tariq appears to be a grown man stuck in a state of arrested development, unable to move beyond the phase of being the popular "cool guy" that gets money and women.

He's riling up his base, making them angry, and giving them a target they can reach (immigrants), but not giving them the info and tools they need to affect change (voting, government literacy, a focus to make reparations happen).
The GOP and Trump did the same thing. He had white folks mad at immigrants and black folks, with hate crimes increasing against both, instead of directing them to businesses exploiting and not paying fair wages, and politicians making laws that benefit the rich instead of them. The tea party and white racists couldn't get to Obama, but they could get to and beat or shoot the black guy walking down the street. They had an outlet for their anger, for a short time.
Everyone gets to feel powerful for a bit, they have someone they can feel superior to, but at the end of the day nothing changes and they are left stewing in their hate and mad at the world.
Tariq has enough influence amongst people to organize strategic voting to get the attention of politicians. Instead he tells folks not to vote, or hold their vote. When you don't show up 1) politicians won't court you, they assume you don't participate and 2) it allows other groups who are showing up like hispanics/Latinos fill the power vacuum we leave and gain more influence.
In the end he's not helping things to change, he's not giving tools or even giving factual info on how government works.His followers think Biden or the dems can give reparations with out votes from the GOP. They dont happen without action from the government he is telling them not to participate in.
They will say black voters got civil rights and other groups got reparations without voting, but there were enough votes to make it happen. There isnt now, even if all dems in office and Biden were for it. They don't want to lobby the GOP. They don't want to elect more dems because they are "holding their vote" until they get what they want. So they don't want to get the GOP on board or get enough dems to pass an agenda. They think money Biden can send to the Ukraine comes from the same pot that is used for other parts of govt. Its a circle of inaction and frustration. In the end, everyone will just be bitter and mad and still not be any closer to getting what they want, and may be farther away if dems lose seats and have to rebuild ranks instead of maintaining power.

The GOP thinks black folks only vote for dems for handouts. They are sick enough to get a supermajority, pass laws linking reparations with CRT and saying it's illegal, because they deny racism. By the time the laws are litigated through the courts, years would pass. Do not put anything past them. When they get in power, they always make it harder for dems to get elected and pass an agenda.
