A new version of the 1970s buddy cop series Starsky & Hutch is in the works at Fox, with a female twist.
Fox is developing the project as a one-hour drama under its script-to-series model, Deadline has confirmed.
The modern reimagining will revolve around two female detectives, Sasha Starsky and Nicole Hutchinson. The duo solve crimes in the offbeat town of Desert City while staying true to their friendship, their awesomeness, and somehow also trying to unravel the mystery behind who sent their fathers to prison 15 years ago for a crime they didn’t commit.

Sam Sklaver (Prodigal Son) and Elizabeth Peterson (The Resident) will serve as writers and showrunners.

The project will be produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment.
Created by William Blinn and produced by Spelling-Goldberg Productions, the original series, which aired on ABC from 1975-1979, centered on two detectives — the streetwise David Michael Starsky (played by Paul Michael Glaser) and the by-the-book Kenneth Richard “Hutch” Hutchinson (David Soul) — traversing the streets of the fictional Bay City, California in a two-door Ford Gran Torino. Sony TV, then known as Columbia Pictures Television, was behind the original series.
Peterson is currently working in the development mini writers’ room on Marc Cherry’s upcoming Jenny Is a Weapon at Fox, and she previously served as co-executive producer on The Resident. Peterson’s additional credits include HBO’s The Leftovers and The Newsroom, and Fox’s Prodigal Son.
The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news.

Not understanding why they are doing this.

Keep Starsky and Hutch as White dudes and have it work alongside NY Undercover. They could make a NY Undercover/Starsky n Hutch universe and then create a spin-off with all female detectives.

Why is FOX not bringing back “NY Undercover”?

And put it on Hulu or FX.

Why not just remake this bullshit? For the record I hated this fucking show. Something in my 4 or 5 year old mind just knew it was something odd about women beating men up.

I'm so done with these kinda stunts by unimaginative people in entertainment...

This is just another attempt by Hollyweird to generate money and ratings by generating "controversy".
They KNOW this new "female" version of a beloved TV cop show will piss off long time fans and viewers just as they hope it'll appeal to:
- Feminists.
- The Twitter crowd.
- The Alphabet community.
In short, they're gonna try to make a show that will appeal to everyone lacking a swinging dick.
Just like these people tried with these "modern interpretations":

This ain't even worth getting worked up over...

FOX don't own NY Undercover... NBCUniversal / Dick Wolf do...

They tried to reboot it but ashy lips went on those Tranny rants and they shut it down...

Truthfully it's seems Dick Wolf took the reboot Idea and flipped into Law and Order Organized Crime instead... It basically the same "Undercover Unit" setup except it's tied directly into the L&O franchise...

Ok, I do remember that now that you brought it up.

Last I heard was Ice-T was gonna get a spinoff “Law & Order” series. Not sure if that is what Dick Wolf plans on doing with the show.

We will wait and see….

L&O Organized Crime could act as a spin-off of NY Undercover...

The obvious is having Lil G become part of the Undercover Unit following in his dad footsteps...

Then have supporting roles from Moreno and JC as current or former officers to tie the shows together...

So wait, the Fox station...that employs the "fine" people at Faux News...that HATES whatever the hell wokeness is. Is rebooting a show that starred two white guys will be casting it with two women?!?! Craig Kilborn's head just exploded!

They just fucking up my childhood with all these not thought remakes. They had a few that were good S.W.A.T. (renewed), Hawaii Five-0 (cancelled), MacGyver(cancelled) and Battlestar Galactica(ended). Some just start out strong and just fall off.

Surprised they couldn't put together a good A-Team reboot, TV or movie. The movie could have been a nice franchise.
Some don't have that long-term thinking like writers and producers back in the day. There are only a handful now like Dick Wolf, Anthony E. Zuike, Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill and a few more.
