MNF: Damar Hamlin passes out after a tackle, received CPR and AED on-field, rushed to hospital in critical condition, game postponed

One of the fortunate blessings is that this occurred in Cincinnati where they have one of the best Level 1 Trauma Centers in the world.
I kept thinking that if this occurred in Buffalo during that vicious snowstorm, the outcome could have been far worse :smh:

Reading comprehension is key to obtaining good understanding. Try again.
On second thought; What I was saying was that in that moment when the opposing player was going down, bracing his fall may have helped lessen further brain injury. Since Damar did suffer cardiac arrest. Whats lost in today's competitive endeavors is compassion. Even for the opposition. Dipshit!

Your mom must have dropped you a lot to cause you brain injury...and that's your excuse for being so fucking stupid, because there is no other way that dumb shit would make any sense otherwise

Not sure if anyone mentioned it here cause I havent read any pages but Im surprised that all these reports keep mentioning the cardiac arrest but never mention being brain dead.

After 3-4 minutes of ur brain not getting oxygen (they said they were performing CPR for 9+ minutes), then ur technically brain dead.

I hope i wrong but my brother was on life support for a month. He was deemed brain dead and had the machine breathing for him. After a couple weeks, he was able to breath on his own without a machine but was still considered brain dead.

So it was hella confusing because they say if ur brain dead that you cant breath on your own but he was able to but they still said he was brain dead.

So I truly hope im wrong and that this situation isnt similar but from what ive read and seen on TV, i think its a strong possibility and for some reason no one mentions it.

It just happened last night, they're not at the point of giving that information yet.

Right now people are just happy that he's alive and breathing 50% on his own, but you are correct with your concerns and insight.

I feel you but I guess Im more about stating what it is so people can start their healing process. But like I said, I pray im wrong.

Damar Hamlin's goal was simple: He wanted to raise US$2,500 online to buy toys for needy kids.
It took about two years.
Then came Monday, when the Buffalo Bills safety was critically injured and needed his heart restarted on the field in a chilling scene that unfolded during a nationally televised game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He instantly became one of the biggest stories in sports, and thousands of people found his GoFundMe page.
The result: roughly US$3.7 million donated in the first 12 hours. And the number is climbing.

A fundraiser that as of last month had raised US$2,921 was up to US$3,637,590 by 10 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday -- with about 130,000 people going online in that span to donate, on average, about US$28. Some of the donations were smaller. Some were more than US$5,000. On average, about three donations were being made every second in that initial 12-hour span.
And many came with messages of hope for a 24-year-old player in his second season, sedated in a Cincinnati hospital, listed in critical condition and with some teammates unwilling to return to Buffalo just so they could remain close to him.

Umar hot right now about these...."Donations...Donations...Donations...Donations"

I hope that young brotha pulls through from this because his family needs him more than ever.

It's awesome that people came togther to create a go fund me to raise $5 million for a toy drive that he could help a lot of kids all over different cities.

Once he recovers and decides to leave football, he should get the rest of his money from a disability from that horrible injury he suffered that could've ended his life.

It was truly emotional seeing fans and players come together from both sides for that brotha when he suffered from cardiac arrest and the medical staff was great attended to him right away.

So, i changed my profile pic because I wanted to pay my respects to that brotha to which I'm hoping he pulls through!

I mentioned this today somewhere on social media. It likely took some time for them to figure out exactly what was wrong. That time was precious because if he wasn't breathing and wasn't receiving oxygen immediately then we are having an entirely different discussion

Diagnosis and action to correct. There's usually some time lapse between the two.

I remember in the early 2000s when John Ritter passed away from an aortic dissection. I remember some surgeon online saying that you would likely die from an aortic dissection unless it occurred in an operating room and the surgeon immediately knew what was wrong and what to look for. Any significant lapse in time would mean the difference between life and death

For his sake and the sake of his family, I hope there was a little time lapse as possible between diagnosis and action to correct

One silver lining is that if you are going to have a cardiac arrest one of the best places to have it, other than of course the hospital, would be an NFL football stadium where they have doctors and paramedics, a defibrillator, and the whole nine. I actually was with a woman who had a cardiac arrest, and there was no sense of pain or discomfort, she just fell out as if she had sleeping pills and when she came through the next day, she didn't remember anything and was actually released the following day. Not saying this will be the case with him, but as long as there isn't something like a stroke that caused it, recovery from cardiac arrest is usually faster than a heart attack., especially if its acted on right away (this is the big key).
So by tomorrow we should know whats going on with him.
No one will ever be released the next day with cardiac arrest.

That crossed my mind too. However, if he's showing any signs of brain damage, the news would have leaked out by now. The fact the medical crew responded quickly probably helped alot.

There have been cases where people survived and recovered fully after being deprived of oxygen for a long period of time. On the other hand, I had someone in my family die from a cardiac event mainly because he went without oxygen to the brain for 40 minutes (fire and rescue were performing CPR during that period).

The opinions of idiots is such folly. The dense calling the wise stupid is typical.
