They more or less already established they are aware that Joe could fall out with them and would not be shocked during the Pod with Akademiks. They also acknowledged that Joe spices shit up for the camera for views.

Ironically, Joe tried to say even if Ice were asked to leave it wouldn't be that serious as to ruin their friendship. Given that I thought Mal and Joe were allegedly close friends and lived together at one point, either Joe is just talking or he is not being realistic with himself. All relationships are different, but to the world Joe and Mal were close and they have yet to mend their issues, so why would it be different with Ice.
