TV SHOWS / SERIES - Seen any good ones lately? Please feel free to post reviews / feedback / trailers / articles / TV news / all that shit ...

Has anyone checked out this new series? Just happened across the trailer on Youtube ... looks pretty good ...

Dark Winds is very good so far

just finished The Son, also starring zahn mcclarnon
I do not think i have seen him in a bad series

Have you had a chance to finish Dark Winds? If so - how'd you like it?

Just started The Son today.

3/4 the way through season 2 of The Wire rewatch.

@ViCiouS - no bullshit ... gonna watch JUSTIFIED either later this year or early-2023! Might have to put Severance and Gangs of London to the side and start tackling Justified beforehand due to the number of seasons in total that it aired for.

Finished Better Call Saul and Only Murders in the Building recently, and s2 of Reservation Dogs is around (or just past) the mid-point, so it'll be finishing in September, and City on the Hill (s3) is around the midway point too, so it should finish in Sept or Oct too.

:roflmao3:

The Patient on HULU is very good the episodes are extremely short but there is already a great dynamic between the characters Steve Carell as Alan Strauss · Domhnall Gleeson as Sam Fortner it takes the whole therapy thing and flips it and adds a thread that will definitely have me watching again next week

Sept releases for me are

1) LOTR on Amazon
2) Narco Saints on Netflix
3) Cyberpunk Edgerunner on Netflix
4) Atlanta s4 on FX
5) Snabba Cash s2 on Netflix
6) Jungle on Amazon
7) Ramy s3 on Hulu

American Gigolo on Showtime will be a maybe for me

It will be nice to have the quick turnaround with the next season of Atlanta. The previous season had a several year wait before it aired. Hopefully we get more of the main cast this season too.

Been meaning to watch Ramy. Thanks for the reminder. Have heard and read the positive reviews in recent years.

Thanks for the intel about 2, 3, 5, and 7 ... hadn't heard of these ones.

Anyone plan on watching this series? Just saved the first 2 episodes - looks like short episodes (21 and 23 minutes respectively).

Watched the first 2 episodes as they're so quick to get through and short in duration. Found the flashbacks effective as they are brief in nature. Small budget as it's only in a few locations thus far (present / past). When Steve Carell is quiet and giving the silent treatment ... you can see the wheels turning. Him trying to think out his next move, but in quite a tough predicament.

Going to continue watching.

I have been hearing VERY good things

I think I will like the shorter episodes.

Will return with a review soon.

How is Ramy?

Worth checking out. Enjoyed the first 2 eps - you can watch them combined in under 45 minutes. Enjoy seeing Carell's understated acting ... the facial expressions and body language.

Can you believe we talking STEVE CARELL as a serious dramatic actor?

the guy from the office?

It STILL AMAZES me that the GREATEST dramatic performances come from the most comedic actors

but RARELY does it work the OTHER way.

Shout out to Idris who till this day SHOCKED me with just how pure FUNNY he was on his stint on the Office way back.

Agreed. Love when actors can show off their acting chops.

Carell was great on The Office. So damn funny. As was Gervais on the UK original.

Currently on my The Wire rewatch. Just started season 3. Always good to see Elba and company.

As for Carell ... if you haven't seen this movie, check it out. Good performances from him and Timothy Chalamet.

Beautiful Boy is a 2018 American biographical drama film directed by Felix van Groeningen, in his English-language feature debut. The screenplay, written by Luke Davies and van Groeningen, is based on the memoirs Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff and Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines by Nic Sheff. The film stars Steve Carell, Timothée Chalamet, Maura Tierney, and Amy Ryan, and deals with a father-son relationship increasingly strained by the latter's drug addiction.

Beautiful Boy had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2018, and was theatrically released in the United States on October 12, 2018, by Amazon Studios. The film grossed $16 million on a $25 million budget and received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the performances of Carell and Chalamet.[5] For his work, Chalamet earned nominations at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, BAFTA Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards, among others.[6]

I definitely will check this out

It's good, man. Watched it a few years ago with my mom. Took note of the acting buzz around Chalamet as I'd heard he was one of the better actors in recent years.

Hit home as both my parents are in AA. Dad since the mid-90s and mom in the past handful of years.

And the close friend of the family who died of a cocaine / fentanyl overdose last year was ALWAYS resistant to NA. Didn't think he had a problem like others. Did do detox on a few occasions, but NEVER fully admitted the extent of his addiction (despite drugs derailing his life from approx' ages 14 - 42).

Its in that same genre of a show as Master Of None/Atlanta/Dave/Awkwafina is Nora from Queens, don't know what to call that genre but i enjoy them

The only one I watched religiously was Atlanta

I caught some of Dave and it was funny

Yeah I like that genre of sitcom like Louie

But I think I have to really connect with the lead since 99% of the entire thing is based on them

so because I don't really like Awkafina I didn't even give that one a chance.

And you make a good point

why doesn't THAT genre have a NAME?

@Helico-pterFunk

That's a good point. It's almost like an indie blend of comedy - drama.

Have seen all of ATLANTA thus far.

Definitely want to see RAMY. Have heard good things from podcast reviews and critics.

Only caught a little bit of LOUIE.

Caught a few episodes of DAVE and thought it was pretty good.

Saw part of 1 episode of AWKWAFINA / NORA FROM QUEENS.
