I swear dis nigga here! Gilbert Arenas keep shit going..LMAO: update: Gil started shit with Kwame Brown....AGAIN!!

Facts. 6'10 3 and D player who seemed to always come thru in the clutch on top of being really athletic so he could play the 3 or 4. If a guy like Kent Bazemore could get 19 million a year, Horry is getting over 20.

He had the handles of a middle school girl.
Who’s he beating to the spot/basket in today's game with those subpar handles?!
He’d average about 9ppg as a stand up shooter

You guys have no idea how good Arenas was, That game against Kobe when he scored 60 later that week he put 54 on Phoenix. He was pissed that Jerry Colangelo (Suns Owner) didn't pick him for Team USA. Truthfully, had he rehabbed correctly instead of spending that summer playing on the blacktop in the Goodman league in DC, his career would have ended way differently. He was a top 50 NBA talent easily!

Who said anything about handles? Horry was a 3/4 who mainly shot the ball offensively and was a good finisher around the basket.
So again when was Horry taking people off the dribble mentioned? I literally said he'd be a 3 and D player and you go on to say he'd be a shooter which means as I had already said a 3 and D player. So you agree!! The rest of that shit has nothing to do with what I said.
And didn't PJ Tucker just get a contract for over 30 million? He's got handles????

All this may be true, but he seemed to be at the right place at the right time on several occasions. And he came through on several occasions as well.
luckiest sixth man ever!

but to Gil's point....match up Horry 1 on 1 with any of the greats who never won a ring and who do you think wins? Match their production against his and who would consistently win that?

On the one hand its not fair to make rings the end all and be all BUT on the other hand it IS literally the pinnacle of achievement in that sport. If one isn't striving to win a ring then what the hell are you even doing in the league.

It just sucks that people who are clear greats can have their value undercut just by saying I have a ring you dont so STFU (coughSHAQcough) as if that person's insight and credibility is less than just for that simple fact.

If you take it further, then a person with 6 rings is better than 1, so going by that rule Steph Curry can tell Kevin Durant to STFU becuz KD only as 2 to Curry's FOUR! On top of that he had to join CURRY'S team just to get the 2 he got. Even tho Durant was very arguably the best player on the team and MVP 2 times in a row! That shit don't mean NOTHING when it comes to who got rings, who don't and how many you got?

So theres NOTHING Durant can say in front of Curry, Lebron, Jordan, even ROBERT HORRY (I got 7 bitch how many you got? Then STFU. ) And between Durant and Horry now we get into the busdriver/busrider argument and guess what....Durant STILL loses because its clear that GS was not HIS team nor was he the leader of it. Thats Curry, Just as Horry was clearly the busrider on the various teams he played on so Horry STILL bests Durant on that front. (we were BOTH busriders our championship teams and I STILL got more rings than you bitch....so again..STFU  )

See how nasty and petty that shit can get when you go there?

PJ has phenomenal handles compared to Horry. The game is so different today than when “Spot up” Bob played.
You mentioned his athleticism… why? What factor does that play if all he’s doing is standing in a spot and waiting for the ball?
You were eluding to him getting to the basket so it had to be addressed that he’s not getting to the basket in today’s game with that “one hand, look down at the ball while dribbling” handles.
I mentioned his handles because it’s very likely that Bobby H doesn’t even make a roster today.
It’s easy to suggest someone would thrive in today’s game since they “were” great 3pt shooters, i.e. Reggie, “Stand There and Wait” Bob, Bird, or whomever, but it’s never mentioned that none of them would even make the league today. Hell, none of the names I mentioned are even good enough to make a John Calipari coached Kentucky roster.

All of this is true as well.

But the bottom line is, he's got 7 rings. Can't take that away from him. And we can't say that rings are important on one hand, and then someone's rings don't count because of how they were gotten. He played, and he earned them, despite the circumstances.

Thank you for being as ridiculous and hot takish as Gilbert Arenas. Again athleticism matters beyond driving to the basket and having handles. Do you understand that? It matters defensively, it matters in rebounding and it matters as a finisher. The game today isn't like the game in the 90's. As a matter of fact the game today would help Horry in contributing as something other than being a shooter. With the uptempo play he'd get to finish on the break more and with the spacing as a cutter he'd be able to get even more opportunities at the rim. Reggie could shoot off the dribble as well as a catch and shoot guy. Bird wasn't super athletic but he was skilled which is why he averaged double digit points and rebounds. He still had a 3 point shot a post game and could pass. He was never an defensive stopper and still wouldn't be.
But you think that Kelly Olynk, Zach Collins and Myers Leonard are better ball players than Reggie Miller and Larry Bird since they're in the league while according to you Reggie and Larry couldn't even play at Kentucky let alone make the NBA.So thank you for saying some of the dumbest shit possible

Nigga, yes!
Exactly!
There’s only a handful of players from the 90s that could play today.
Don’t even mention the 80s.

You old farts are so damn dyslexic in your way of thinking. You retards think less skilled players would thrive in a more skilled era… TF?!
Zach Collins looks like trash because his peers are fucking phenomenal. Drop Zach off in ‘93 and he’d be a god damn Allstar.

Zach Collins looks like trash because he is trash. He hasn't done shit in the league and he didn't kill it at Gonzaga either. You young hot take muthafuckas are so busy watching highlight mixtapes and delusional that if someone doesn't do ridiculous shit they automatically couldn't survive in today's game as if everybody is so phenomenal. But according to you every one who played back in the day was unskilled when there are tons of guys who made the league solely based on being a phenomenal athlete not because they're ridiculously skilled.

How the fuck is he trash if he’s filling a roster spot in 2022?
You sound dumb as fuck.
Nigga, he’s trash compared to the rest of the starting fives on every NBA team, but he’s a basketball god compared to the average bums you see balling in your local gyms.
It’s like talking to prairie dogs trying to explain how basketball has evolved to you clowns.

Do you think Jeff Hornacek would make a D1 roster today, let alone a damn NBA squad, with his exact same skillset that he was killing Jordan with?!

And for the record, Chris Mullin was an Allstar in ‘93… Zach would destroy him.

So he's trash!!!

We're not talking about rec league ball and we aren't talking about Brian Scalabrine's statement on pro players vs regular players. We're talking about the NBA and you continue to say dumb irrelevant shit and yes Hornacek and Mullin would make teams today. And while you talk about evolution you seem to act like a pro ball player in 93 would be incapable of learning to do a fucking eurostep or step back jumper since they would have to adjust to the difference in play. And again if these guys were shooters with worse spacing, a slower pace or were successful scorers with ultra physical defense and hand checking they couldn't come into a league with better spacing and no hand checking and suddenly suck.

And for the record Zach Collins can't stay healthy and stay on the court now with advanced sports medicine he damn sure wouldn't be healthy enough to play in 1993 after the likes of Shaq, Hakeem and all those other bigs back got through roughing him up

Here your retarded ass go with this bullshit. This is what we’re talking about.
Why does an old player have to “learn” the shit the new players are doing.
I’m talking about take their exact same skillset that they possessed and bring them to 2022 and your retarded ass would see just how much basketball has revolved.
This is why Gilbert and every other person says that certain players in certain eras were trash.
If you’re too slow to understand that then just say that.

All this from a muthafucka whose initial argument was that a guy couldn't be a 3 and D player because his ball handling sucks. That's like saying a guy can't be a good defensive player because he can't pass.
All these insults before you say some dumb shit. Players work on their game and adapt or do you not realize that. Jordan didn't feel like he could drive to the hoop as much as he used to so he developed the fadeaway. But then again some of these guys wouldn't be able to function back in the day when they didn't get credit for gather steps and all the other bullshit that's used to justify taking 4 and 5 steps or 3 steps into a hop step into a pivot then a pump fake then a shot.

But as you like to do you try to change the scenario, ignore common sense and throw insults. But being called names by a dumb fuck is kind of like a badge of honor.

Because you know a step to the side instead of a step forward or a step backwards is just this crazy evolution that is so ridiculous that no pro could learn in a day.

I notice that you sure do get in your feelings when someone doesn't blindly accept the dumb shit that you say. Stay in your feelings!!

Your dog water ass started the insults first. I just retaliated.
You baby boomers hate when the truth about your eras are spoken out loud.
Everything y’all did was trash. Rappers trash, singers trash, athletes trash, cars trash, gear trash, slang trash… nigga everything about y’all was trash.

How can this be when we saw some players from overlapping eras do just fine against players that were successful in the modern era and saw some guys such as Grant Hill change his game to incorporate the 3 ball. This opinion is bullshit.

You say shit irrelevant to what was said, double down on it, say more irrelevant shit and then get in your feelings.
Yes On God, Cap and Thot is the next evolution of language. And rappers on Auto Tune doing their worst Roger Trautman impersonation talking about the exact same shit is the evolution of rap.

Your Kurtis Blow.

There you go with that shit again. Wrong again!!! If your era is those guys then that would also be your era of basketball but you're hyping up 2010 and 2020 like your era is Lil Uzi Vert.

The rappers that you’re naming are not better than the rappers that I named. However, my era got much better than yours, lyrically.

With basketball/sports, we realize that athletes get better but certain idiots try to romanticize the past eras and refuse to acknowledge that the players are better.
The best players, for me, have changed because I’ve seen better players with better skill sets come along.
In this order: Magic, Jordan, Penny/Grant Hill, AI, Kobe, LeBron.
LeBron has been the best player to grace a basketball court since 2010 and he will not hold that title forever. Shit, Tatum, Luka, and some of these new highschoolers are gunning for that crown.

You lame ass idiots think basketball plateaued with Jordan and that shit is retarded.

Robert Horry Wanted To Call Shaquille O'Neal And Tell Him That Shareef O'Neal Doesn't Have That Dog In Him: "Yo Man, You Gotta Tell Your Son… He Can’t Be Playing Off The Damn O’Neal Name"

AA10bcpJ.img

Shareef O'Neal has finally made inroads into playing professional basketball after an incredibly challenging couple of years that saw him deal with heart disease and still make his way to the NBA Summer League with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers chose not to bring O'Neal back for training camp, and he has since signed a contract with the G League Ignite.

It is incredible to see O'Neal actually make it to playing pro basketball after his health issues, but not many look at Shareef as a major talent after his failure to impress the Lakers enough for a contract during Summer League.

7-time NBA Champion and former Laker Robert Horry has commented on Shareef's burgeoning basketball career. Sadly, Horry didn't have anything positive to say about Shareef, saying that he wanted to call Shaq and tell him that his son can't keep playing off the 'O'Neal name'.

“I picked up my phone and I was getting ready to call Shaq like ‘Yo man, you gotta tell your son…he can’t be playing off the damn O’Neal name. He gotta go out there and play.’ You gotta put forth some more effort man. You know Shareef’s such a nice kid, that I don’t know if he has that dog in him to go out there and take what he wants."

Not only is Horry an NBA legend, but he was also teammates with Shaq, so this comment has got to hurt Shareef. Veterans saying negative things about young players is often a massive blow to their confidence, so it'll be interesting to see how Shareef responds to this criticism.

The best way Shareef can vindicate himself is by making a strong impression in the upcoming G League season. Considering the hefty contract he signed, it'll be crucial for Shareef to deliver on those expectations to keep his NBA dream alive.

"No chill Gil" wants to be revered for his observations like Kobe was......

Problem is Kobe was 100% on point and could articulate so that even the most casual of fans could understand. That point about Scottie Pipen's footwork...... a much better take than this.

Now with that said.....he may have a point, but he's not selling it well
