mediocre screenplay but
Ben Bratt and Hoon Lee steal every scene.
while everyone else just tries to keep up
IGN is more positive about this than I am
That's cool about the rewatch of BB and BCS with your gf.
Agreed re: Chuck. So glad that storyline is no longer wasting anyone's time. Glad we can focus on Saul, Kim, Gus, Nacho, Lalo, Mike and company.
Lalo is such a great villain.

That Dirty Black Bag
A raw, epic and romantic spaghetti western series about the dark side of the Far West. The story describes the eight-day clash between Arthur McCoy an incorruptible sheriff with a troubled past, and Red Bill, an infamous, solitary bounty hunter known for decapitating his victims and stuffing their heads into a dirty black bag, because, as he puts it, “Heads weigh less than bodies.”

I think what was most frustrating about the "Chuck McGill" character played by Michael McKean is that it was well-acted, as to be expected. But the audience didn't really care about his presence. It took away from the series, in that we were primarily fixated on watching Jimmy's scams and schemes, and how he eventually evolved into Saul Goodman. Why care about his brother?
We had no real awareness of "Chuck McGill" on Breaking Bad ... so why care about him on BCS?
Whereas with people like Mike, Gus Fring, and the twins ... it's a pleasure seeing what they were up to pre-Breaking Bad. We had actual investment in their involvement.
I kinda liked the Chuck McGill story because it kinda shows how Jimmy grew up and his thinking process then and now. Jimmy really loved his brother but Jimmy had a real awareness of how the world works early on. Jimmy took another approach at life and also their mom favored Jimmy More than Chuck and Chuck never really loved Jimmy like Jimmy loved him. It kinda shows how Jimmy evolved as a lawyer, a brother and a person.
DMZ
2022
4/10
Before going forward, if you are a InCell and hate seeing women in leading roles, female empowerment and be the heroine of the story....don't waste your time reading forward.
I'm not familiar with the comic and if this series is related to it, so I have no idea if they are connected.
This is a 4 episode limited series that runs about 1 hour each.
Nothing is told on what the Civil War is about, it's origins or politics of each side. All we get is a flashback of when SHTF in Manhattan, NY in relation to the main character of Rosario Dawson. A map is shown briefly of the NYC Tri-State area on how its divided.
This is mainly a character drama centralized around the primary characters on how they are affected by the events of them being in the DMZ of Manhattan.
The series has a somewhat throwback feel to the classic cult films "The Warriors" and "Escape From New York".
There is pretty much nothing for action. Just a occasional fist fight and some guns shooting. So don't go into it thinking this is some apocalypse "Mad Max" film. It's nowhere close. Basically nothing is shown of the destruction or havoc of Manhattan.
It's a slow burn drama.
For the Thirsty, Rosario looks like shit thru-out the series. There is a couple of quick scenes showing her prior to the DMZ looking like a Spanish Harlem Hoodrat.
Not sure if HBO plans on continuing the story, if they do, that might be the time to watch, for now pass, unless you are a hardcore fan of these type of stories.
