I disagree Phife was subpar. Was Q-Tip better than him? 100%, but just because Andre 3000 is a better emcee than Big Boi doesn't make Big Boi subpar. Phife's Ventilation album wasn't a classic album but it also wasn't trash. Overall solid effort. I really enjoyed it.

This wasnt to diminish him in his death. He got a new project out & its just a hiphop / rap music convo. He isnt spated because he's gone.
They did a good job of keeping him current in his absence unlike many other crew's. A Tribe Called Quest should be the example of what happens artistically / musically when geoupbers know a fellow member is on the way out.
