Every Friend I know that Rides a Motorcycle has had wrecks no it just not for me

This is the only thing I've ever considered getting thats close to a motorcycle.

3 WHEELS takes balancing out of the top priority!!!

(see my sig)

I laid my first bike down "walking" it. I had a few more bikes since then, but I haven't rode in 10 years. When my youngest gets to high school, I'll buy another one, thats about 10 years from now.

I went from this:
2001 Suzuki Hayabusa
1 lay down resulted in 2 broken ribs
Got my shit fixed and rode it until it was stolen in 07

To riding this as much as I can
2021 Harley Davidson Road Glide

I love riding. I'm gonna do my best to be safe, knowing that there may be circumstances beyond my control. I know the risks associated with riding motorcycles but I also know the joy it brings me.
My joy outweigh my fears. Until it's the other way around, I'm gonna ride as long as I can.

As a motorcycle rider probably was a great move for you. You already thinking bad stuff instead of the good stuff. Only thing I don’t understand is people lose arms, legs and even their life in car accidents. But it doesn’t prevent people from getting a car. Paul Walker, Henry Ruggs killed the lady in his C8, Bruce Jenner killed the lady in his Escalade, the young kid that Lebron James best friend agent recruited for the NBA died at a light forgot his name. My co-worker died in his Dodge Charger 392 last year going home.

Overall the light gets shine bright when it comes to motorcycles. Be safe out here in whatever you do!

You’re smarter than this.

People get into car accidents everyday, just like they get into motorcycle accidents.

You’re more likely to walk away from a car accident than you are a motorcycle accident.

Motorcycles don’t have the same protection that a car has so motorcycle accidents tend to be worse.

I love my bike..... it's a 2000 cc beast....last year was the first time I didn't ride.
A guy at work lost his leg from the knee down and still wants to ride...
Times have changed, everyone is on their cell when they are driving...
One beep from their cell and they are looking around to see whos calling.
I'm going to try to ride again this year....but if I don't feel safe.... what's the point.

Average deaths from motorcycle is 5,000 per year
Car deaths average is 20,000 per year
Gun violence death average 45,000 per year

The right gear plays a big part as well, some of these suits have air bags in them. And yes cars have more protection than motorcycle. My point in this thread people die everyday, we take risk with a lot of other things in life as well.

True, you can die in a car just the same. Thousands of people died in cars every year in America

But, like playing football without pads and playing football with pads, the pads give you more protection. And though you could die just the same, your odds of dying without the pads increase drastically

I'm going to keep driving and you're going to keep riding and hopefully both of us get to our last day dying of old age or something other than an accident

Yes sir… I believe when it time to go it’s your time to go.The pandemic took a lot of people out and we still here.. stay safe and blessed!

There’s 8.6 million motorcycles riders in the US.

There’s 241 million licensed drivers in the US.

But those are just numbers and you can match those up with the deaths that you listed.

I like motorcycles, haven’t ridden one in years but I know that there’s more risk riding a motorcycle. As you do.

People do die everyday. But a 30 MPH fender bender will most likely hurt a motorcycle rider more than the car driver. As we all know.

Motorcyclists are like pitbull owners....

This whole argument reminds me of pitbull defenders who claim chihuahuas bite more people than pits.....

Yet they always fail to acknowledge that if a chihuahua bites you, you can easily kick one off and will have minimal damage, while a pitbull will more likely possibly maim you.

Fuck them bikes and them dogs.

Man if we thought like this..it’s like saying all black people are ignorant and thugs

I didn’t wanna put them in that category

I drive a Chevy pick up for just this reason. I was hit 4 times in a year, after moving to Detroit.

The last hit spun my van around so that I was facing backward on a busy street.

If I had been on a bike, or even a mid size auto, I probably would not have walked away.

I will never own an automobile again. I will never, ever own a motorcycle, or even a slingshot.

Trucks, vans, or catch the bus. No motor bikes for me.

Fuck em. They always talk about car drivers having more accidents, not taking into account the likelyhood of you walking away unscathed from a car accident versus a motorcycle crash.

I don’t have a problem with them and one of these days I’ll get a bone again too.

But one thing I do know is that they’re dangerous and I accept that responsibility when riding. I’m not gonna list empty stats when any accident that I’d get in is gonna be worse on a bike than in a car.

Compound fracture on that first one. My dad used to ride in his youth and then he convinced me not to buy one

I've purposely watched tons of motorcycle accident videos on the internet. I wanted to see why people were crashing so much. I don't know if they have to statics as to why as much as to the what. But what I've seen is most crashes were from being reckless, speeding and not paying attention. These were very avoidable. There were very few unavoidable ones. One thing that gets people is following to close. Another is not knowing their riding limitations or not knowing how to ride properly.
I try to be very aware of my surroundings especially coming into intersections. That's where I noticed a lot of incidents occur. I stay away from or hurry up and get past 18 wheelers. One blowout can send tire debris hurling at you on a motorcycle like small missiles.

Yeah that tire debris from a 18 wheeler hit my foot one time. Shit feel like hitting a brick wall, got me by changing lanes it was in the dotted lines. Truck was blocking my view.

You still ride?

Talking to my mechanic last night, he showed me his son's bike, a V-Twin, and telling me about riding. I've never rode a motorcycle, it I want to buy one this year.

I like sport bikes and hogs, but I wanna start on a sport bike.

Any suggestions on which model or size to learn on?
Heard I should start on a 750 because I'm 6'2" 255 lbs now (losing weight)
Did you ever get a ride slick? Remember you asked about it

Thanks for asking. Nawl, I still haven't gotten a bike, but I did take the motorcycle class & got licensed. Haven't been on a bike since tho.

I think I want to start on a cruiser now, something like an Indian. Not familiar with the models.

2nd clip I've seen happen in real time. Dude and his girl was cruising on 495, Pick up truck ahead of them had some shit fall off and main man on the bike tried to swerve. The bike went one way, his girl rolled a few times, got up and limped off to the side of the road. Bike driver slid a bit, don't know what happened after that.
Also lost two people I know to wrecks on bikes. I like speed but give me a car anyday.

I don't know how anyone can ride a motorcycle after seeing people drive. People are freaking crazy. They don't use turn signals. They don't pay attention. I fear for my life while I'm driving a car around these people. I can't even imagine riding a motorcycle

When I was a kid I was on punishment and my brother went somewhere. When he got home he said he witnessed an accident, the aftermath of an accident.

He saw an arm, a helmet with the head still in it. That was it. That was the last time I seriously considered riding a motorcycle
