Dave Chappelle said he's 'not bluffing' as he threatens to pull investments from the city if a affordable housing development is built

He doesn't want to hear sirens and gun shots...Shit I feel him....I am all for affordable housing and stuff, but got damn does those vouchers bring alot of Bull Shit with it.
(only my stance because I am low key dealing with that now here in DC)
Low income housing brings low income people. I live in a neighborhood where the average house cost $300,000 (mine is $325,000 but I paid $160,000 for it, haha)

Poor people think poor ways. There's another thread on the board where people are talking about litter. Poor people litter much more than you see in my neighborhood. In the poor neighborhoods of my city of Medina Ohio you see more litter than you do on the Richer side

And you're right, I don't want to hear sirens and helicopters at night. I like my little Country Ass City

That's interesting because even something that small I have noticed an uptick of....We have a group that does community cleaning on the weekends, but it's just irritating man...Like damn it's trash cans everywhere but you throwing shit on the ground....

Dave literally went to that small ass town to get away from people regardless of race.

Now you have rogue developers showing people his backyard claiming they can be his neighbor.

Hell Dave even spoke on people trying to sneak on his property and shit like that

You damn right he doesnt want that shit and I dont blame him. He went there for peace.

Plus it literally fucks his investment. Property values do not increase when you allow those hillbillies in

Dave should just take his investment and bounce.

Dave Chappelle said he wanted the people who visit his bars, clubs, and restaurants to be from outside of Yellow Springs. It seems like he is planning to turn Yellow Springs into an entertainment destination and he wants to cultivate a specific clientele. From what it says in the story, it looks like Yellow Springs has been on board with this the whole time, and that's why Dave is now mad, because if they bring in the affordable housing, then it will screw with the economic makeup of the town and basically ruin his plans of developing the upscale entertainment district that he has already put millions of dollars into.

So basically Dave's plan was (is) for Yellow Springs to make money off of tourism, and the developer's plan was (is) to make money off of real estate. If those two things than coexist, then fine, but in this situation it cannot not because the median income of a town has a direct effect on the number and type of people who are going to want to visit, so Dave is actually accurate when he says that his development plan will no longer "be applicable" if they go through with the affordable housing because the median income will drop too far and the town will no longer attract spenders.

The village council doesn't want to pick sides because both sides are offering up millions, but Dave is like "I got here first, and I am already millions of dollars in, so either I get my way or I am out".

This has nothing to do with race. This is purely about money.

Ok, Ima say it! DC is on that bullshit. Show me how the hell his so called planned to build "restaurant, the Firehouse Eatery, and comedy club" gonna generate the kind of revenue he's talking. Ain't no in hell in the best of times, this particular mixture of business is gonna generate anywhere near $65million in taxes, etc, etc. No club, no place in the whole united states pulling in that kind of money. And let's not start with Yellow Springs? WTF? It ain't no destination, it's not bucket list must go too place. No reason to bring your hard earned $$$ to this small ass town. Just because DC choose to set down roots there, don't mean he can get others to make YS a must have place to bring their business. DC is on that bullshit and I like DC but this is not that. fuck him!

And just from the eyeball test, Dave's plan looks to be way more lucrative for Yellow Springs. Real estate deals are a one-and-done payout and then after that you are pretty much just getting revenue off of property tax. Tourism, however, is far more sustainable revenue-wise. Visitors coming in daily and spending money generates a daily cash flow from sales tax that beats whatever revenue you would get simply from someone buying a house, even if you include the affordable housing units.

Rome wasn't built in a day either. Any good tourist destination starts off as nothing. That's why investors buy the location, because it is nothing and therefore cheap. Any investor who plans to generate long-term sales revenue also plans to eat a loss the first few years and thus puts up the capital to cover it. The 65 mil was probably the long-term projected amount after the other phases of the plan were complete. Dave and his group did not exactly post their whole business plan online for all of us to read. I'm sure there is some other stuff in there that gets them to that 65 mil.

I want to believe what you wrote but history has shown me, its not to be. I agree Rome was not built in a day but there has never been a black business person who created some shit from scratch and now its worldwide or at least famous throughout teh country. Yeah there are successfully black people running schools, business etc, but DC is a comedian and at some point, his comedy will become stale and predictable and his influence and money won't be long and he will have to exit stage left. BTW, DC did say $65mil a year. I'll spend my $$ on DC and root for his success but I am sure ain't gonna travel to Yellow Springs to see shit!

Wow you have supposedly black people in here talking about not wanting other black people to move near them :smh:
Who said that? It’s like someone else said in the thread, you see the word affordable housing and people automatically think BLACK PEOPLE. ow that’s cultural conditioning.

If I could guess , Dave isn’t pissed about low housing people receiving housing, he’s pissed because he believes they could have put it anywhere and they just decided to put it right next to his multimillion dollar investment (daring him to say shit). He cut to the chase. Fuck the argument and having someone act like are just trying to help people. Here is my ultimatum. Take it or leave it. Fuck the narrative.
Yes!! He'll open up all the businesses, and they'll try to put those houses near his business, making some folks nervous about going there. Destroying his business after he's built and remodeled buildings. You don't have to burn down black businesses to destroy them.

I haven't run any numbers, and I certainly don't know the demographics of that area, but I am guessing they think that they can draw enough visitors from Cincy and Dayton to hit that number. And judging by who I see Dave roll with regularly, he is probably the only Black person in that investment group.

If they can get a few more restaurants and bars, then a nice shopping center and a hotel or two, then they off to a good start.

Read somewhere that the population there is
82% white
10% Black
etc.

Maybe that nigga Dave don't want no white trash expanding their numbers around him while he contributes to the local economy. :dunno:
That’s what I was thinking. Imagine living around a bunch of white trash addicted to opioids. Have to put a fort around your house

I realize I can't spend his money but I wonder why he wouldn't want to invest that 65 million in a small black town.

We don't even get along on this message board. Before any money is invested into African American communities we need to be at a level where we don't use it to destroy ourselves or sell what we get to others imo

Some affordable housing developers are different. Depends on if this is what they do or a one off. Usually has restrictions but it’s deal by deal.

Once again. I understand Dave’s sentiments. Fuck the explanation. Put that shit somewhere else. Should have had an economic and land use planner mapping out development areas and see how all this could work out before simply dropping it on him. Should have been handled before the community meeting. That’s what he was saying. Why did it take me having to come up here and perform?

Piss poor planning on the City’s point.
This all day long!

Wow you have supposedly black people in here talking about not wanting other black people to move near them :smh:

It makes sense. Why be around people you know you will eventually bump heads with? There are a bunch of us who don't follow basic societal rules and standards. I'm talking about shit like playing loud fucking 808's at 2am, walking around begging for money, cigs, shooting guns for fun OR actual shootouts, having loud public arguments the whole neighborhood can hear, throwing trash in their yards, not cutting the grass, allowing their kids to be bullies, young boys walking around at night checking car doors, not obeying traffic laws, speeding through residentials....not to mention lack of upkeep on properties....

and I'm just supposed to put up with all that shit???

This is reality, real life. Not an idealized version of black neighborhoods you would like to think exists wherever black people are. The hood minded do a lotta unnecessary shit that keep our hoods an undesirable place to live.

Someone on Twitter said just because your favorite entertainer ACTS like they're progressive or ACTS like they're radical doesnt mean they are in real life.

Dave Chappelle has an Asian wife and lives as far away from Black people as possible.
Yeah and he made an investment and they trying to fuck his money up. Who side at y'all on?

I seriously don't believe that affordable housing would bring a lot of black people to that area. Its the meth heads and tweakers that Dave is worried about and I don't blame him.

DC is that dude right now and can't do no wrong but like Paul Mooney used to say.. at some point, he will get his nigga wake up call and shit won't be so sweet then. Just saying.
How one could say they have followed his career yet make this patently stupid comment is beyond me. A guy who literally walked away from $50 million, and spent a decade of his prime in isolation- for sake of his integrity- being told he is gonna get a "nigga wake up call" is supreme idiocy.

You niggas just be typing.

"The whole development deal, cloaked as an affordable housing plan, is anything but affordable. Three out of 143 lots would have been for 'future' affordable housing. The rest of the homes were to be priced between $250k and upwards of $600k. In Yellow Springs, and in many other places, that is not considered affordable housing"

Sounds like the developers tried to disguise a major development deal as an affordable housing program. 3 out of 143 lots sounds like an alleyway.

This is just more of the gays trying to attack Dave.

As per usual devil is in the details.
