So how should I approach it? Should I spend a lot on the lesser known coins and less on the well known coins, or vise versa….,starting out?

Hard to say. Im def no pro crypto trader, but basically treating BTC and ETH like an index and dollar cost averaging just in be invested.....while buying batches of a few "penny coins" to try and swing for the fences...
